I am truly baffled how the Walden location has the 4.5 star rating on Google. I went with a friend to get late breakfast on the Friday after Halloween at lunch time. Admittedly, the place was a lot busier than I thought it was going to be and they looked severely under staffed. I get it. Tbh I wanted to leave right then.. When we first came in we were completely ignored by the hostess for atleast 5 minutes when an other group of women came in they were immediately tended to and asked their name.. the guests had to tell the hostess we were actually there first and she agreed okay, lady.. first strike. We were eventually sat by an obviously frazzled, sad looking individual who promised to come back for our orders (took atleast 10mins). I looked at the Greek dressing on our table and the mini plate was FILTHY. There was legit dried pieces of feta and salad on it and the bottle was disgusting. It took FOREVER (24+mins) for a plate of eggs, potato’s, and pancakes to come out for us when other guests after us were being seated and served by the same waitress and receiving their full entrees before us.. when my friend looked down at her glass she noticed LIPSTICK on the rim (she wasn’t wearing any) and physically became nauseated. Our waitress interrupted our meal to ask for the Greek dressing off our table for the guest next to us , I looked at it and said go ahead, she looks at the plate and bottle seeing it’s obviously filthy and awkwardly took it to the line to wipe it off and change the plate before handing it to the table next to us.. she said NOTHING about the state of it. I was just laughing at this point. What a joke. Honestly, I was beside myself and debated leaving $0 tip and complaining to a manager.. However, the pitiful presentation of the staff and establishment as a whole caused me to pull some humanity from my soul, and swallow my pride and my soggy toast served on a filthy plate, I paid for something I really shouldn’t have but it’s what ev’s. I did promise myself to write an honest review of my experience.
Oh , also, I tried them 2 years ago at their transit location and ordered a Cesar salad that was SWIMMING in dressing with brown lettuce which made me sick… despite this prior experience i foolishly went against my better judgment to try again. Really, I am curious how they are so busy that place is atrocious in my opinion. Not sure why I’m having a different experience than everyone else but it’s giving...
Read moreMy wife and I took my sister in law to Alton’s Tuesday August 13th. We have been here many times over the years with family, friends and co-workers. We arrived about 6pm and were promptly seated in the dining area to the left in a booth, which we prefer. The overall look of the interior has not changed over the years and honestly is getting a little shop worn and in need of a face lift. Nothing major mind you, just showing wear and tear. You can gauge the success of a restaurant usually by the reinvestment in the surroundings. However in this case I think it is more of an oversight than intentional neglect. For once we all decided to order something different other than the famous Open Chicken Souvlaki Salad with renowned dill sauce. My wife ordered the Chicken Souvlaki wrap and fries. My sister in law ordered the Rueben sandwich with fries and I had the Beef Souvlaki dinner with home fries and pita. My wife’s wrap was delicious and as usual she couldn’t eat the whole thing and took the remaining home. My sister in Law’s Rueben sandwich was delicious, however the bread for some reason was soggy although toasted. It’s possible the sandwich was made too soon and had to sit under the warmer until the rest of the meals were ready to be served. My Beef Souvlaki dinner looked so bountiful when served that I seriously didn’t think I could consume the whole thing, but with patient endurance I was able to accomplish this delicious task. The Beef was cooked to perfection and the flavor was memorable. The home fries with a few extra onions as requested were delicious as well as the Greek salad. Hannah our server was very nice and friendly and did an excellent job of making sure we had everything we needed without interrupting us too often. She had a nice sense of humor and we gladly rewarded her for the excellent service. We will return again once back in Buffalo since we now live out of state. We have found there isn't any good Greek food, Pizza, chicken wings or coffee in the south at least nothing as good as the great restaurants all over the...
Read moreToday, September 12th around 5:30pm three of my friends and I sat down for dinner at Alton’s. We frequent the restaurant and have always enjoyed our time. Today was a completely different story. Upon being seated at the back corner table an older waiter asked loudly across the room to an older waitress “do you want me to take that corner table?” It was said in a joking way. The two of them then exchanged a conversation across the room about how he in fact did “not want to take the table” . The waitress then came to take our drink order and jokingly said, “he didn’t want you because you’re all so beautiful”….. The four of us assumed they were speaking against us because of our age. We are young girls, they might assume we wouldn’t tip/would act rowdy. We are all adults with professions. We know how the world works and we respect employees. Even when the respect is not reciprocated. Our waitress was pleasant at first, and then after 45 minutes she neglected to check on our table on whether we needed more drinks. We spoke openly about how we needed more drinks and to our surprise, our waitress arrived with three more drinks. All of which she slammed on to the table causing spillage. She continued to bring us glasses of drinks throughout our meal(each time not saying a word to us) we took this negatively, almost as a joke on her part. When it came to our meals, two of us had awful wraps. The chicken was not right. We all agreed they had a similar taste and smell of tuna. When this was brought to the attention of our waitress, she simply took the uneaten meals away and took a soda off of our bill. Against our better judgement, we still tipped well over what she deserved. Id like to include the complete negative energy the entire restaurant staff had towards our table. We felt uncomfortable, in the restaurant we look forward to meeting at often. This has changed my view on Alton’s. To the staff working the evening on September...
