Geddes Bakery — Restaurant in Town of Clay

My mother loves this bakery and she is obsessed with the lobster tail and cannoli pastries in fact all the pastries and bread are delicious and don’t disappoint. We have been too this particular bakery several times before and have been very pleased each visit. Unfortunately, this morning, our visit as far as the staff servicing the front end was not as we usually expected it to be. My mother was so excited to enter the bakery as she raves over it and get her favorite pastries and we did but with distaste at the end. An middle aged blonde lady assisting us was very unfriendly. She never acknowledged us when we arrived as she was busy conversing with another staff member and never took initiative to provide the usual customer service we usually receive by previous staff. She was snippy and even wanted to go back and forth with me as their was miscommunication regarding if my mother and I were ready to purchase our pastries. I felt disrespected in front of another customer who also had walked in while we where there. The employees tone was rude and she was annoyed to assist us. The interaction left us uncomfortable and I left discouraged knowing that a place of business can have an employee who is unfriendly in the front end of the bakery servicing customers in this fashion and manner. At the end of the visit and after being handled by the employee the way we were it was a slap in the face to have her tell us to have a nice day.

Over all, aside from this recent visit. We love the bakery and the delicious pastries too so we will be returning in the future as one bad experience is not going to deter us from missing out on some delicious sweets. I give the bakery 5 stars hands down any day but the owner may want to consider having argumentative employee work in the back of the bakery where she is not providing customer...

My Review from 2024: I have since come here several times for bread, baked goods, etc. and they have been fine. Until 12/6/2024. I bought a halfmoon cookie, took 2 bites, and heard a "crunch". It was something black and flat, and I had to spit out the residual pieces I had chewed. A rock? A piece of plastic? I don't know. All I know is that it shouldn't have been in here. I will no longer be returning which is a shame because this is the only local bakery open until 6pm weekdays. I see there is a similar review from another person 2 weeks ago saying they also found something in their baked goods and the bakery dismissed the issue. A great way to lose customers..

My review from 2023: I purchased custom made sugar cookies for my housewarming party and this is what they looked like... I was embarrassed to even hand them out. I might as well have made them myself. I will say that they tasted good, though. Also, I asked for the frosting, including the lettering, to be ICED and the lettering was frosted, so they were very difficult to wrap. I even confirmed twice to make sure they would be iced and explained why I wanted this. The woman who took my order was great and asked if I wanted a plus sign (+) or an and sign (&). I wanted the and sign (&) but clearly did not receive that. It looks like a Saint Patrick's Day clover, LOL. Not the vibe I was going for.. This order cost over $100, what a waste. Wish I could...

The cakes are excellent, but not what I ordered for the price. I called for my wife’s 60th birthday. I was told, half a sheet would feed 30 people at $32 cost with the basics decorations. Half chocolate, half vanilla with filling and whipped cream frosting. The next day we drove to the bakery to make our order. At that time, we decided that we wanted the chocolate ganache and red roses added. We were told they would put a good amount of ganache in the middle of the cake and we had to change the type of frosting because it would melt Whip cream frosting. The cost would go up to $60. In total it was 67 with tax. I had no problem paying the extra for a special occasion. It was a nice cake with a minor blemish in the middle. I picked it up an hour before the party. The girl did ask me if it was ok. I explained to her, it was not what I was expecting but at this point I wasn’t going to make changes.
