Truly disappointed with this whole appointment. I thought it was odd that it’s store policy that your entourage you bring with you can’t help you pick out dresses and be on the sales floor but you have to walk through the sales floor in order to get to the dressing room area where they kept the entourage seated. I already filled out online what price range I wanted to stick to and at the beginning of the appointment they asked me what I was looking for in a dress and if I’ve ever tried on other dresses but they didn’t ask me what my budget was. As they moved me onto the sales floor and described the process I brought up the budget I had. Then they tried pushing and asking if I really wanted a dress how much would I be willing to go over I said $200 but didn’t want to go over $500 of my original budget with alterations etc. I found that off putting because they were already trying to push me to spend more than what I already originally said and I understand things can happen. What the issue was after that, the senior consultant pulled a dress that was $700 over my budget without alterations etc. Of course that was the dress that I wanted but there’s a reason why I have a budget.
The more upsetting thing about this experience is that I brought my mom, my sister who’s my matron of honor and another one of my bridesmaid. The consultants didn’t bother trying to get to know them and after the appointment I asked my entourage was so quiet during that appointment. They said they didn’t know if they could speak up or not and felt uncomfortable to do so because with the first dress I tried on they were trying to give their opinions but kept getting shut down. I understand that as the bride my opinion is the most important but the fact is that the people I brought with me are important to me and know me best. It’s off putting that they didn’t care to ask my people what type of style they thought I would like and the consultants pulled a ton of dresses but it would’ve saved them the effort and headache if they had just asked my entourage too. Some of the dresses in the beginning that was being pulled and asked if I wanted to try it on made me feel like I wasn’t being heard as it wasn’t my first time trying on dresses so I already knew what silhouette I liked. The appointment felt rushed as well so I left without a dress.
Just an overall unfortunate and traumatic experience. I’m glad it wasn’t my first time wedding dress shopping because it would’ve given me a misconception of what wedding dress shopping was. Luckily I had an amazing experience previously trying on dresses for the first time and an amazing experience at a different store after this...

I had a Saturday appointment with Kate, and she was wonderful, I walked in really having no idea what I was looking for and she was so patient and accommodating, asked good questions to help me figure out what it is that I did and didn't vibe with, and I really felt heard. She gave great suggestions and I really felt like I was in the hands of a pro. We wrote down a few of my favorites and I made an appointment to come back the following Tuesday.
For my Tuesday appointment (yesterday) I worked with Kayla who was also incredible!! Patient, always listening and collaborative through the whole process, and she really saw the points I was struggling to envision and was so good at explaining how things would look/feel better once the dress has been altered to fit my body. Huge kudos to Kayla because she also picked out a dress that at first glance I did not think was my vibe, but having listened to me and my entourage, ended up being exactly the one I wanted and what I ended up saying yes to!! Seriously, these consultants are SO good at what they do it's very easy to put your trust in them!
PLUS SIZED BRIDES - come to this bridal shop!! They have all of their plus size samples on different colored hangers so you don't have to waste anytime sifting through things you know won't work. They also have a HUGE, I mean seriously, HUGE collection of dresses to find your perfect style. I was SO nervous about not being able to find something and having to "settle" because of my body and that just isn't the case, there are so many inclusive options and I never once felt "weird" or self-conscious with either of the consultants I worked with. If you are nervous for a similar reason, take it from someone in the same boat, I had an AMAZING experience and so glad I got my dress here :)
I will try to remember to update this review once my dress is in so I can comment on delivery, etc. but the shopping experience alone is so worth it to choose this bridal shop. Working with these consultants was such a joy and really put a nervous, indecisive, bride-to-be like me at ease. I would give you 10 stars if I could. Thank you Kate...
Read moreOur experience with NY Bride is nothing short of disappointment and very poor customer service. Several months ago my fiancé and I purchased a $600 Ivory veil and we put a substantial deposit down to order a wedding dress. Since then my fiancé has shared with me that she is not happy with this dress because she felt pressured to make a decision every time she entered the store. Instead of trying to help her find “the one” the sales consultants continued to remind her that she is running out of time before it’s too late to place an order. She went to this store with an open mind hoping the consultants would help her narrow down the styles of dresses she might like based on the perceived experience and expertise they are portrayed to have. Instead (she mentioned) they appeared apathetic when asking questions and offered very little assistance.....Feeling helpless, we contacted the store and explained our situation hoping to resolve this so my fiancé is happy and NY Bride still makes a sale. Instead, they were very opinionated about not willing to help us and insisted that it was my fiancé's fault for “changing her mind too many times.” We even offered to pay them the full amount for the dress we ordered if we could possibly exchange it for another dress in the store, to no avail. After reading their mission statement, it’s evident that NY Bride does not put the customer first, nor do they help the bride find the dress of their dreams, no matter how long it takes. From our perspective, they take advantage of their customers as their emotions are running high from excitement to lock them down in a binding contract. If the time comes when they have to deal with a situation that may be less than ideal their response is, “ well, she signed the contract, maybe your fiancé can sell her dress on Facebook.” At this point they are forcing us to pay for a dress we don’t want regardless of our efforts to figure out a resolution that works for everyone. I am adamant about not recommending this store to any future brides, including my cousin who just got engaged. Very unprofessional and...
