10 stars because 5 just isn’t enough! Absolutely SPECTACULAR! Came in from Buffalo for the night. Could’ve went anywhere but saw Fat Sals pop up on my Google maps. I saw they did sea food and burgers with pasta entrees. We liked the variety of the menu and come on, how can you not try a place called Fat Sals?! Wife and I went with our baby, made reservations for 6:45pm and we were immediately greeted and sat. Beautifully decorated and comfortable seating. Some TVs for sports and wall art to match the interior. Cozy hometown type of feeling. Looking around the locals knew each other and said hi as they came or went. My wife and I ordered sweet tea and water. True sweet sun tea like you’d get in the south. We started with the lobster bisque soup and the Bavarian pretzel with jalapeño beer cheese. Large chunks of lobster in the soup served with oyster crackers on the side. GIANT hot and soft pretzel on a hook with warmed beer cheese. The pretzel was seasoned and salted to perfection and the jalapeño dip was just excellent. For dinner we both went with the applewood smoked bacon and cheddar burger, cooked medium. I went with fries for my side and she did onion rings. We got a side order of their toasted Mac and cheese to split. The burger came out cooked perfectly which is a rarity these days. My fries were thick like steak fries with a crunchy outside but soft inside. Probably my all time favorite fry I’ve had. The burger was PLENTY big enough for me and I’m 6’10”. The Mac and cheese was just perfect with the bread crumb topping. You can order the Mac and cheese as an entree but we really wanted to try the burgers so I’m glad they make it an option to order it as a side (additional charge). I forgot to take a pic of the Mac and cheese but it looked so good I dug right in and stopped half way for the photo. For dessert we went with the hot fudge brownie with ice cream and even that was a dream. Forgot a picture of that for obvious reasons lol. This is how brownie sundaes are supposed to be served! Wait staff was very friendly and tended to our needs as we dined with them. Can’t wait to visit again, we may even go back for lunch before leaving town. This is a must try if you’re in the area or...
Read moreJust got back from this restaurant and was not going to write a review, yet I am left with an unsettling feeling of discomfort and uncomfortableness. My family and I came here to celebrate a special occasion and we're excited to try this place out for the first time. We were seated quickly yet as soon as we sat down, we noticed that we were getting different service than everybody else. Our waitress was nice yet we waited about 15 minutes for her to take our drink order when there was only 3-4 other groups of people in the whole restaurant. NOTE we were the only Hispanic party there (with the exception of my boyfriend who is white.) while the service was disappointing, the food made up for it a little bit. Wings, mozz sticks, and lava cake was the best part of the night. Burger didn't taste fresh, but the chicken dishes were good. regardless of feeling like we were being treated different due to our race, we were about to leave in good spirits. HOWEVER, as we left after paying the bill, our waitress came running after us claiming that we put less money than what was owed. MIND YOU We counted three times to make sure it was right. She then keeps saying that the other staff told her that the amount we left was incorrect. THEN she counts in front of us and it of course is the right amount. Though she apologized, we were left feeling singled out because of our race. I can guarentee you that if we were white, the staff and waitress would have counted our cash more than once instead of assuming that we would leave less than what the bill came to and chase us down in the parking lot. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and we will not be returning to this place. Sad because we had high hopes and even my boyfriend who is white left feeling shocked at the treatment we got. Please be aware of the microagressions you get from...
Read moreWas staying in the Bear Mountain area for a few days with my son. Looked up casual restaurants and Sals popped up. Very happy we decided to go there. Not a far ride, the service was over 5 stars. We sat outside, great atmosphere. The food was great. I had linguine with white clam sauce. When our food was served the pasta dish was covered. When the waiter pulled the tip bowl off and saw all the little neck shells I was very pleased. What a pleasant experience to have clam sauce made with fresh calms and not from a can. My son chicken with fries. Definately be going back when in the area again. Thanks for the great experience. I guess I will keep adding to my review. My son and I took a trip to the area on 8/24/24, and of course we had to visit our favorite restaurant. We had calamari, oysters on the half, a high end bacon appetizer, seafood linguini, and a burger for my son. As usual the service, atmosphere, and food was outstanding. Our waiter was a young man named Artie, great dude, very personable. I was a bit amazed he remeberd us from a few months ago. Every employee I have interacted with in the 5 visits could not have been more courteous or helpful. As with every dining experience, the food has been ACES!!! We hope to be back mid fall, looking forward to a great meal on a chilly autumn evening. To all the staff of Fat Sal's, thank you for the warm greetings, great service and beautifully prepared, consistently well...
