First of all, this is some of the most "authentic" tasting Italian food that I've ever had. I only wish I was in the neighborhood more often. I'm a black man from OLD Brooklyn, and I know good pizza. But that's not even it my step-dad got pizza and I got a calzone. But... how do I... man, I'll just say it.
The people of Bronxville aren't the most BLACK-tolerant folk on the planet. Sorry, it's not my fault y'all are unfriendly. But THIS restaurant made me forget I was IN a town like this.
My mom was here for a complicated back surgery. My step-dad and I were look-out for something fast to eat while we waited. I found the place by accident while I was smoking a cigarette.
And when we got in, I felt like family. Normally, if it's something fast and small like a slice and calzone, you pay immediately. But our server/cashier wouldn't even accept our money until we finished eating. Brought the food to a table for us and the whole nine. Made us feel welcomed. That was big.
And the food? Phenomenal! Fresh, great portions, and while I know that all restaurants, regardless of theme or menu, some hardworking Hispanic people are usually cooking... unless it's a Chinese food restaurant.. but the food still made you feel like you were on Capri. They're using SOME Italian grandmother's recipe(s), and it SHOWS.
THANK you to the gentleman that served us. I appreciate(d) not being stared at and whispered about for a little while in this town.
Lunch, dinner, SOUP... come here. I PROMISE you it's worth it. Get the chicken parm (it looked amazing) or pizza, or zeppoles, soups,...
Read moreI don’t know where to begin. This place stinks. I went there for the first time today after visiting an ill family member over at the hospital across the street. When I got in, it was around 8:45 PM. We asked for 3 slices of pizza which they had and they just heated it up. They got us our food around 8:53 and we were happy, we asked the owner if we could eat inside because he said they were closing at 9. He told us yes if it was quick, we agreed that we wouldn’t be there for more than 10 minutes as we were just eating one slice each. As soon as we paid, he said “I’m sorry guys you gotta go because we close at 9 and we still have to sweep”. First of all, he basically tricked us into thinking we can eat inside until after we paid and then he revealed his true colors. Second of all, if he is the owner, he should make the decision to let us stay for 5-10 minutes to eat one single slice of pizza and then leave. We were forced to eat pizza outside with no table and the owner and the crew left at 9:00 on the dot. He could’ve swept up while we ate our pizza and we would have been out of his hair by the max 9:05. This is not the right way to run a business, I have been to many many places before who lock the doors to not let customers in, but allow the customers who got in before closing to finish their business before leaving. I don’t understand why he had to kick us out and couldn’t wait an...

The memory of that experience is still engraved in my mind. Grazie mille huh?
