First off I wanna say despite being a foodie I’d never been much for writing reviews unless it’s a really special experience or unless I see a great restaurant being massacred by nonsensical BS by ppl who have nothing better to do than complain (see pretty much any excellent restaurant on Yelp nowadays).
However I’ve been ordering from this restaurant almost every single morning and occasionally popping in when possible. Their food and service is outstanding and I’m obsessed with their amazing breakfasts. But the true sign of an excellent restaurant- I’ve learned- is what happens when they do make a mistake (which let’s face it I use to work in the restaurant business for years even the best places make mistakes every so often with so many moving parts and people Nd esp w 3rd party deliveries) but what happens after they make that mistake says a lot. Some places will literally fight you even if you’re not asking (as I hadnt) for any refunded money or credit from them, why? Idk. But some places like Bronxville Diner or Ladle of Love (ironically also one Bronxville there must be something about the business owners over there) go above & beyond to make sure you know you’re a valued customer and that they care about your experience. Like after a minor mistake in my previous order yesterday they more than made up for it and showed just how amazing of a restaurant they are when today they sent my delivery in a very nice canvas Bronxville Diner bag instead of the normal paper and plastic used for any restaurant delivery AND one of their famous tasty homemade brownies and it put a smile on my face to see that. Thats why I decided to write a review because any restaurant who’s not only amazing in their food and service but cares about the customers experience that way deserves recognition. If we all promote and pass on kindness the domino effect can only make the world a better place. Thank you...
Read moreRude staff and rubber pancakes! This is my 2nd visit here The food was just OK But the staff was nice on that day. This time I took my elderly father here for a late breakfast On my day off. When we arrived we were seated promptly . Male staff came over over barely making eye contact and was rushing asking if we wanted anything to drink I said for now some water with lemon. He came back with the water no lemon And was walking away as I was speaking To try to remind him. He came back and had a real nasty look on his face And He supposedly went back to get the lemon but at that point I point I was done And did not want this person To serve us. Someone working there saw the interaction And came over to tell me they will be sending our waiter over Shortly so I said if that was my waiter don't send him back over here. So eventually They send another waiter over hes very abrupt as well And not friendly but tolerable just because At this point I just want to have a peaceful and pleasant breakfast with my dad. We order my father's breakfast and I have questions about the combo the waiter was not helpful at all Was difficult To answer the question and said to give him a minute and score it off. The manager a young woman came over after they're the 1st bad interaction And apologized because she noticed the behavior and how frustrated I was. The food came out and Honestly I should have took my father's suggestion and go to IHOP. .. The pancakes were rubber texture And I left most in the plate , Not worth the money. I will not return here, Mainly due to the nasty staff. And it's unfortunate because I live...
Read morethe Bronxville Diner is a retro-ish diner, adorned with 50s decor items, pop culture art, lots of chrome, and comfy booth seats. the diner is located across from the MTA train stop. the space is fairly big and the diner does do delivery. Interior is very bright and clean. diners are very much a dying breed, so it's nice to come across one.
ordered the chicken souvlaki sandwich which is a less of a sandwich and more of a platter of roasted chicken, pita, salad, and Tzaziki sauce which is served on the side. the serving was more than ample. overall, it was okay. the chicken was cooked nicely, the sliced pita was warm, and the veggies were fresh and crispy. however, I wish it was more of sandwich like a pita stuffed with those ingredients. the Tzaziki sauce smelled funky so I didn't try it. the "sandwich" was $13ish without tax and tip, so it bends to the pricier side of a casual meal, and fries don't come with the sandwich (they are an add-on). my friend had a pasta dish and he seemed okay with it, but it was a ginormous portion for like $17 w/o tax or tip.
overall, the Bronxville Diner is a place where quantity rules supreme. Unfortunately, I imagine quality from dish to dish varies. the menu is up-priced. definitely, the reason to come here is when you need a quick-ish meal and need a menu with a lot of variety for different appetites. i'd say stick with the burgers and fries if you come here.
the service is friendly, but...
