PSA: if you are a delivery driver or looking to order uber/doordash from here do NOT. I’ve done 20 deliveries here over the last month and a half and in 18 out of 20 of those deliveries I’ve had to reach out to my customer and let them know I’d be taking at least an extra 10 minutes because of the hold up at the restaurant. The employees that I’ve dealt with have been the least enthusiastic, least helpful, and rudest people I’ve ever come across in a sweetgreen location. I understand it can get busy and that’s perfectly fine I’ve worked in tons of restaurants and have dealt with the stress of it all but some simple communication can save a delivery driver a ton of time and also ensure the end customer is happy. I don’t know who the management is at this location but they need to straighten this out. The reason for this review finally after 20 deliveries there is due to a 42 minute wait I incurred today. I asked several employees how much longer the order would be in a calm and kind demeanor they kept hardly acknowledging me and saying “5-10 minutes” keep in mind I’m asking this every 5-10 minutes so how is it the same answer over and over again. I gave them the name of the order several times yet they never came back and said they misplaced it, or that they would make it for me as soon as possible. Fortunately my customer was very nice and I was able to communicate effectively with them. (I would like to say thank you to one employee in particular I believe he said his name was Julian and he was the ONLY employee who genuinely seemed to care that there were a ton of people waiting for orders… he genuinely went to check on the orders and he gave me enough time of speaking to let him know that I had already been there 30+ minutes, he then immediately apologized for the wait and checked on the order he then realized it must’ve either gotten skipped over or someone else had taken it mistakenly. He immediately volunteered to make the order for me and got it back to me within 6 minutes. So thank you to that employee for being active and trying to problem solve as opposed to just throwing it off as though it were my problem to deal with.) as far as the rest of the employees that I dealt with they were truly awful no sense of urgency, avoided eye contact in order to not have to check up on orders, outright ignored me as I was trying to speak to them, then came back and with the most massive attitude said “your order isn’t ready you need to wait for it” I then finally was able to ask how much longer and low and behold he said “5-10 minutes” while not checking on the order what so ever and just continuing to go back to whatever he was doing. I believe this is my first EVER bad review about a business I only ever review if the place is great but this was absolutely ridiculous management needs to figure out a better system because driving 10+ minutes and then having to wait an average of 20 minutes after arriving for an order is absolutely ridiculous. Like I said before 2 out of 20 orders I’ve done there have been short waits/ already prepared by the time I’ve arrived. I attached a photo of the total trip time into this review for anyone who may be reluctant to believe me… 53 minutes for ONE SINGLE BOWL. It was just a salad with chicken. I don’t understand the lack of care and customer service. Regardless thank you to that one employee who truly cared enough to help. Needless to say I will never pick up and order from here again. Read moreI’ve been to this location for years. Everything has always been great. Today on 7/2 I come in and Mark spoke to the customers who were Caucasian with such a nice voice , patience and customer service etiquette even asking the woman before making her meal that there was no more spicy cashew dressing and was that still okay? When it was my turn to order hot honey chicken plate . He began making it and he told me when he got to the chicken , that “there is no more seasoned chicken , only roasted chicken but there’s no difference”. I said “roasted chicken.?” He said “yea the only difference is one is seasoned and the other isn’t”. I said that was a big difference and he said “well you gotta wait” , shrugged his shoulders and walked away immediately to serve the other customer. I waited . Then I asked the young lady who was working with him how long I would have to wait for blackened chicken because he didn’t give me a time estimate and just walked away. She opened the top of a full blackened chicken and smiled ! mark said “he didn’t see two there”. I shared with him that I did not appreciate is demeanor and he told me “well that’s how I talk . I’m from the Bronx” I told him I am also from the Bronx but that doesn’t mean we have to have poor customer service and if he came into my hospital for care I would not speak to him in a way because I was “from the Bronx “ or because he may be “from the Bronx “ . Huge difference in the choices and explanations he gave other customers versus with me. I’ve never had any customer service issues from any of the other employees . I will visit again, but I’d definitely avoid him because I just come here for good food and good service after my eyelash appointment even though “I’m from the Bronx “. I don’t know what made him look at me and decide to turn to the Bronx channel because I guess he had the Scarsdale channel turned on for the others . Maybe if he sticks to one channel he would’ve taken the extra mile to open the top and see if they really actually ran out of the chicken instead of trying to convince me that all the chicken was the same or at least asking me if I was willing to wait however long it was to make . I wanted to walk out in the middle of them making...
Read moreBad Vibes, Good Food — This Place Needs a Serious Reset
Sweetgreen’s food is usually solid—fresh ingredients, clean eating, no complaints there. But the Vernon Hills Scarsdale location constantly kills the experience with bad energy and inconsistent customer service.
From the moment you walk in, the vibe is cold, disinterested, and transactional. The staff just seems drained, going through the motions without any sense of hospitality or warmth. You feel like you’re bothering them just by walking in.
This location badly needs a vibe check and a management overhaul. More consistency in the food portions, better and fairer customer service, and a team culture that doesn’t make the entire space feel cold and transactional.
And no, I won’t be emailing you a response to that “we’re sorry to hear this, please contact us” corporate script you paste on every negative review. What matters is that you actually take this feedback, fix the problems, and stop performative damage control in public without actually fixing anything. If you respond to this review with that stock response you will only look bad to everyone who comes on here and sees all the negative reviews and are aware of the problems. Everything I need to say has been said here.
It’s frustrating because I know a lot of the employees here are probably working hard—Good leadership lifts people up and can transform the space into a welcoming one, for both staff...
