Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to Katy's. With the COVID restrictions, there weren't many tables set up. There was only 1 available table when we got there at 11am, which was a 6 person table. Two waitresses walked by us multiple times before one of them finally stopped to ask if we needed a table. We said yes, and when she looked to see only the 6 person table available, she looked around to see if anyone else (a larger party) was waiting. When she saw nobody else was waiting, she said "It doesn't look like there is anyone else, I guess you can sit over there." At the time, we understood, because it was a large table. However, in hindsight, that shouldn't have been our problem. There were almost no 2 person tables set up. Had there been a larger party that came in after us, would they have taken them before us? After we sat, another waitress walked by our table at least 4 times, without acknowledging that we were there, or that she would be with us in a moment. At one point, she came to do her rounds of her section, going to each of the 3 tables surrounding us, to see if they needed anything else, yet completely ignored the fact that we'd been sitting there. This waitress had been clearing tables from people who had left (4 tables had left at this point), when she saw a couple standing at the entrance. She brought them to one of the tables she had since cleared off, and took their drink orders. At this point, it was 11:15am. There's no reason why we sat there for 15 minutes waiting to give our drink order (let alone the food order we were ready to place) yet the couple that just walked in were being taken care of before us. At the same time, the waitress who had seated us stopped at the table next to us (the 4th time they had taken care of this guy since we sat down), to refill the man's coffee. I said "excuse me, is there a waitress assigned to this table?" She said "let me find out," and walked straight back over to the register where her and another worker had been trying to fix a problem with the register, clearly not bothering with asking someone else to take our order. We left at that point. Waiting for 15 minutes in a coffee shop, to even be acknowledged or have our drink order taken, is completely ridiculous. Aside from completely terrible service, I'm wondering if the reasoning for their ignorance was so they could clear us out of the 6 person table that...

Read moreOur family of five visited Katy’s Cafe on a Wednesday afternoon as we were on our way home from our trip to Holiday Valley. It was a sunny, mild day in mid March. After ordering five lunches with five drinks, we asked if it was acceptable to sit outside in their patio area. Due to Covid, we were uncomfortable eating inside the restaurant. Though the patio seating was not set up yet (still early in the season for outdoor dining), our young children were excited to have a picnic outside, in the sun. The waitress gave us permission and we settled in. A few minutes after sitting down and setting up everyone’s lunch orders, a different employee of Katy’s came out, abruptly interrupted our lunch and said, “Excuse me. You need to move. You’re sitting in MY walkway and people need to get through.” She then turned around and went inside. It should be noted there were only two other people who entered the restaurant during the 30-40 minutes we sat outside to eat lunch from this business. There was also ample space in the patio to get into the cafe. There was, however, a fire pit placed directly in front of the entrance, but our family was not limiting any access to the business.
Unfortunately, this ruined lunch for our family. My children felt uncomfortable and kept asking to leave because the “girl was mad we were sitting outside.” She was extremely rude, unprofessional and condescending. The food was delicious, but the business and customer service...
