UPDATE 7/2025. The atmosphere here is amazing and the patio incredibly relaxing, I'm still struggling with the consistently overcooked food. Despite repeated visits, it's a persistent issue for my taste. For instance, the roast beef I had was dry and very well done. On my last two visits, I ordered burgers medium-rare, but they both arrived well-done. It seems I just can't get my food prepared to my liking.
On a brighter note, the fresh-cut fries are definitely worth the extra $2 – they're delicious! And if you're a fan of mac and cheese, it's a huge portion and comes highly recommended as delicious.
UPDATE 2024: We returned and had a better experience for sure. The patio was open and it was a perfect day. Our server cold not have been more pleasant. The medium rare burger was cooked to medium well, but outside of that it was wonderful and we would certainly recommend. The blueberry beer is always a must try when you are there (IMO).
Stopped in on a rainy a Friday night. Great atmosphere and location right in the heart of Ellicottville. We were hoping to enjoy the patio, but the weather prevented it.
We ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner. The EBC blueberry is outstanding. Easy to drink and served with blueberries. The pretzel for an app was really good. The pulled pork was disappointing. With the BBQ sauce was good to very good, but most of it didn't have any sauce and without it, it was moist but bland. We have had good food previously, so it may have been an off night. Service was slow throughout the evening, often having to get out of our seat to find our waitress, who disappeared for 15 minutes at a time. It was not overly busy either. Servers at adjacent tables were not helpful as it was not their area. Plates were not cleaned when meals were finished etc.
We will return and hope it's improved next time! This time it truly missed the...
Read moreWe stopped for an early dinner after an afternoon of skiing on President’s day weekend. We were happy that we could get a parking spot and there was seating available since it was a holiday weekend. We ended up ordering the chicken caprese sandwich with fries and the pork schnitzel. Nice sized healthy portions and made pretty well. The caprese sandwich was made with naan so it was light and a nice twist on a classic. The pesto was also a nice touch on the sandwich. There was a good portion of fresh cut curly q’s which were tasty but the portion was made up of a lot of tiny leftover pieces from other batches. Kind of crappy after paying a $2 up charge. The pork schnitzel was super crispy but a little dry/ overcooked. The meat was a little under seasoned but was remedied with some salt and pepper. The bacon and the mustard were delicious and wonderful additions to the dish. I was offered fries or winter coleslaw as a side. I am allergic to both and was offered a side of broccolini, a decent offering but later found out the small portion had a $4 up charge. Ambiance there is fun, ok for groups and is also kid friendly. When it’s crowded it can be a bit loud but I guess that is expected from a brewery kind of atmosphere. Service was fine. Server was nice but overall a little slow. Ie: was well over 10 mins after being seated until we were acknowledged and were able to order drinks even though it wasn’t that busy.
I’d say that this is typical for a visit to an EBC. Food is one of the better places in the area and is pretty consistent with a lot of menu offerings.
Response to owner comment: I cannot eat potatoes or mayo so I was not able to eat fries or your winter Cole slaw. The vegetable was a fine swap however I might have chosen differently if I was made aware it was a...
Read moreI heard this place used to be good, but definitely not worth it anymore. The service was awful. Our waitress barely smiled. Not very kind or welcoming. She acted like it was a huge inconvenience that we asked to split checks. Very rude. When we asked to see a manager, we found out that our waitress WAS the manager. If that's how the management acts, I can only imagine the rest of the staff. Food was decent but half of it was cold and we also had undercooked fish. I guess this place's heyday is over.
Edit in response to owner: one of us got the rice bowl, which was entirely ice cold. The server basically brushed it off and said that the majority of the bowl was supposed to be cold. But the rice wasn't even remotely warm. Nobody wants to pay $20 for a cold meal. We also got the salmon, which was undercooked. We sent it back, and then it got brought back to the table burnt but still not very done on the inside. Considering how few people were in there, I don't understand how the food was so bad. Waitress never asked if we needed the checks split, and then brought one giant check. When we told her we needed separate checks, she got very nasty and rude about it. There is nothing posted anywhere in the restaurant about a 20% gratuity being added to any party over 8 people, nor were we made aware of it. So this server also made 20% off of 6 different checks after being entirely nasty to us and providing a bad experience. She made out like a bandit. I guess I wouldn't bother doing my job well either if I knew I was gonna make a great tip no matter what. We couldn't get out of there...
