I booked a room at the Timberline Lodge over the phone through a booking service trying to find a place to stay in Ellicotville on somewhat of a short notice. I had no idea what room I was booking at the time, but a quick call to the owner answered my questions and got the door passcode. We were in room 301 which advertised a queen bed and queen bunks but they seemed pretty small for a queen (with my pregnancy pillows) and so my husband and I slept in separate beds. The bathroom could use some updating. I’ve been in campground bathrooms with bigger shower stalls. If I was any more pregnant, I probably wouldn’t have been able to fit. There also wasn’t any shower gel, and all the bottles provided indicated they were for men or kids (3-in-1), so bring your own showering supplies. The room itself was very spacious and comforting. A bit noisy from the neighbors with thin walls. It was also a bit warm, even though we tried setting the thermostat down. The room also was not swept or vacuumed. There were left over chip crumbs and other debris on the floor. The location was central and convenient, but for the price we paid (~$250), I don’t think we would...
Read moreI think this was a good place for us to stay while skiing at Holiday Valley. I thought the price was more than I expected, but it was still one of the least expensive options in town on a Saturday night in the prime of ski season. The beds were comfortable enough for two people and I really liked the full/queen size bunk beds + 1 regular full/queen bed. The bathroom had two separate toilet rooms with doors, and a shower room with door, and sink in the main bedroom. Good for large groups. We did not have hot water and I think it's because too many people in the building were taking showers at once. Not sure if that was a one time issue or something that could happen to anyone during the morning/evening shower times. The owner did his best to get us hot water ASAP, but it didn't get warm for awhile. The room and bathroom were very clean and well maintained. The common areas were as well. Location was good, walking distance from shops and bars downtown and only at 5 minute drive to the slopes at Holiday Valley. I would say this is a good place for a group of people looking for clean convenient budget accommodations near downtown...
Read moreThis is a very nice, clean, and overall comfortable lodge. Starting off with the positives, the location is perfect for people who are looking to walk to the town and the attractions near the town. The room was very clean, but one suggestion could be having better stocked basic amenities, such as the soap. Even though there was no one at the actual lodge, there were good amenities outside of the room, like the vending machine, a shared refrigerator, and a gum/candy machine. Moving on to the negatives, there was, in short, no insulation, which made it very easy to be woken up by someone simply talking. I would recommend trying to book a room on the top level, since the basement level and the main level don’t have as nice rooms and seem to be overcrowded with rooms. All in all, I would recommend staying at this lodge, but would recommend taking note that peace and quiet might not be easy to find, and staying at peak times might not be...
