Dobbins' Tavern at the Stagecoach Inn in Goshen, NY — Restaurant in Town of Goshen

This was my second visit, and it’ll be my last.

From the moment we sat down, the experience fell short. The table was wobbly—noticeably so—and no one bothered to fix it. I had to fold up my napkin to level it myself. That’s a basic expectation at any restaurant, let alone one trying to pass as upscale.

The water was served warm. Not room temperature—warm. The ice in my soda melted instantly. That’s not just unpleasant, it’s lazy service.

Then came the short rib tacos, which were downright inedible. What looked like cheese on top was actually a massive glob of mayonnaise. One bite and my mouth was full of it—completely ruined my appetite. I asked the server, who first said it was chipotle mayo, then came back and said remoulade. Neither was listed on the menu. Whatever it was, it was excessive and didn’t belong on that dish.

To be fair, my wife enjoyed her pork chop. But one decent entrée doesn’t make up for a poorly executed meal and inattentive service.

Went to Dobbs Tavern for a birthday celebration and we had an amazing time. Our waitress was wonderful and full of energy. The place was beautiful and quaint . The food was spectacular ! came out fresh and hot of the kitchen. Must try the flip French Martini! the short rib tacos with pickled onions as an appetizer or shareable. Our entrees were great ! He had the 14oz Prime NY Strip Steak which was char grilled to perfection and the seafood Alfredo was amazing it was made with truffle cream sauce that was smooth, and creamy. I celebrated my wife's birthday in the main dining room. Beautifully decorated and very charming. We both had steak and I highly recommend the filet mignon, perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. This was the second time I had their filet mignon, consistency and choice in their steak purchase is apparent. Their muddled old fashion is perfect.
