Heritage Trail - Goshen — Attraction in Town of Goshen

This is beautiful paved trail that’s perfect for beginners or anyone that loves to ride, walk or run. You will see wildlife here including swans, plenty of birds (we saw a turkey vulture but didn’t take a picture in time), turtles and A LOT of garden/garter snakes! I forget when they come out but uh be careful. I could have fell off my bike a bunch of times trying to avoid them. If you are a Pokémon Go player, there are plenty of stops here to get some gifts. We did 25 miles on this trail with our mountain bikes. The tires are not designed for paved road so I was struggling a bit but it was all worth it. I live in Middletown and I used to drive my car carrying my bike on the back to ride from Goshen to Chester and back. Then extended the trail from Chester down to Monroe. Then they extended it from Goshen up to Middletown. There's a couple of spots that are still problems like when you hit Goshen you have to negotiate where the trail actually is when it's on the road. And then up in Middletown it just drops you in town. But they keep saying they're going to expand it. And NO bathrooms. Just a couple pirta potties. Another 10 years and you will have a great 30...

A coworker told me of this trails existence and I love to walk along it now and then for relaxation and exercise. The bugs are only a problem during certain weather and seasons so make sure to have some repellent handy. The trees are very protective most of the time from the sun but sun block will be needed for some parts. And there are cute little chipmunks which run across quickly; they always give me a good scare but I love seeing them.
