The waitress was amazing, the food was amazing, the floors were DISGUSTING. From the moment we walked in, chunks of food, straw wrappers all over the floors. The floors were so slick with grease or too much floor cleaner that’s not meant for that type of tiling- that my family member stood up, and I watched his feet slide apart, in recently purchased Nike walking shoes. That same family member has had major surgery to the entire leg, and cannot risk a slip or fall, so he asked that we not return to order in-house. 😞 The waitress came over after the hostess said she was going to find a broom to sweep. Hostess only returned when a miscommunication resulted in her returning to our table. She had no clue why she was there, but either way, she forgot and she did not clean under the table. The waitress finally tracked down a broom, but could not find a rubbish pan, so she swept the chunks of food from under the table out of the way, against the wall. She did what she had to do, and did her best. AND She was so sweet to us. When our food came out, she was in the middle of building rapport with us, (we enjoyed her personality so much!), but the gentleman that served the food for our waitress-reached over and behind her with our food, manspreading over her as he was significantly taller, and muttered something under his breath that could not be discerned. By her reaction, it wasn’t a comfortable interaction. It was a rude and uncomfortable interaction for us to watch the waitress in that moment-so much so, she needed to a moment for herself. If it wasn’t for her and the amazing food, we would have walked out. She was so apologetic for little quirks like the disgusting state of the floor, (which we didn’t want to be those people, but based on the amount of food cleaned up, she just straight up apologized). We don’t regret asking the hostess to seat us at the booth instead of the table- because from the perspective of the booth, the table had 10x more food debris, straw wrappers, and used napkins 🤮. The dinner rush is brutal, and a majority of the staff was attentive to their tables. But as the waitstaff was rushing, a cook was just wandering through what was left of the dinner melé. Our waitress came back to check on us, and was almost in tears. Apparently one of the employees there had the audacity to call her lazy, after she worked a ridiculously long shift, and that almost broke her. 😢 We tried our best to make her laugh and cheer her up- NO ONE deserves to be berated like that in the work place, and she did NOTHING wrong being human and showing genuine emotions!! Again- amazing food, amazing waitress, beautiful facility, just don’t look down, and tip...
Read moreThe food here is good but the service is so abysmal that I can’t see ever returning. After putting our name down for a table we went to the bar to have a drink. There we were informed that two of the beers on tap weren’t available due to problems with the taps and when my friend ordered a Manhattan she was denied because they were out of bitters. Come on people, this is Wisconsin and old fashions are practically the state drink besides beer. We were seated at our table and ordered entrees. While we were waiting my other friend was denied a second spicy mango mojito because they ran out of mint and the table’s fourth Blue Moon was sans orange wedge because evidently they ran out of those too. After over an hour wait, I flagged down our server since we noticed people seated after us had received their food. Only then did our server realize we didn’t get our meal and said he’d go to check on it. Then the manager visited our table and told us that they didn’t know why our order hadn’t gone through to the kitchen and we only got chips and queso because I requested an appetizer since we were starving. It was obvious to me that our server hadn’t entered our order but didn’t own up to it and was more nonchalant than apologetic. Our server didn’t attempt to be attentive with the rest of the service, but instead avoided us. Two of the entrees came without their ordered sides and we had to ask repeatedly for them. The chicken tortilla soup was served without any garnish at all, no tortilla strips or even cheese and not even a spoon. When my friend requested a spoon the only clean spoon they had was a long teaspoon like the kind used in drinks. A restaurant shouldn’t ever run out of clean dishes especially at 8:30 on a Saturday night. When the bill came the only thing comped was the chips and queso and the manager was no where to be found. This restaurant has been open for months, but even if it were opening week there is no conceivable excuse for the horrific state of affairs...
Read moreWalking into Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen I was impressed with how calm the feeling was. We were greeted at the front desk and were seated right away. There were people dining but Cheddar's is separated into sections by walls and decorations. This felt cozing and noninvasive. Covid-19 sanitary was in practice with sanitizer, masks and paper menus that were good quality paper. They also have curbside pickup. Cheddar's has a drink menu that is unique and one of the Handcrafted drinks is called Cheddar's Painkiller. It has 3 shots of Pusser's rum, pineapple, orange juice, cream of coconut, rimmed with toasted coconut and topped with nutmeg. Excellent drink that is not overpowered by the rum. There is a limit of two which I think is refreshing to have in place. Our meal started with a Caesar Salad which is one of the sides to choose from. Then we chose the Grilled Chicked Alfredo and the BBQ Bacon Chicken Sandwich. Cheddar's has very good portion size. I thought my BBQ Bacon Chicken Sandwich was the perfect size, meaning usually sandwiches from other places are unnecessarily large. The first bite was so yummy and it continued bite after bite. The sandwich did not fall apart and make a mess. I also had fries that were good and not greasy nor flimsy. The Grilled Chicken Alfredo again was a good portion. Very pleasing to look at. The Alfredo had a smooth creamy homemade sauce with perfectly steamed broccoli and Texas toast. I highly recommend both. As far as our waitress, she was knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. We finished with paying at the table with the tablet. This makes it easier but I personally like finishing my time at a restaurant interacting with the staff for paying my check because at that time I like to tell them how wonderful the experience was. All around, I highly recommend this...
