What an experience this was. The host was very pleasant, and we we wanted to do both Ramen and BBQ, he said. “No problem”. Our server came over, took our drink order, and then asked us if we needed more time with the menu. We said yes, and she disappeared for about two minutes before coming over again. We said we still needed time, since my son was still deciding. She said she would start with the other people at the table, and circle back to him... then she started to click her pen impatiently (something my daughter noticed). My wife and ordered a meal for two, but when we each asked for a salad, she seemed confused, but agreed it is a meal for two. She took down the order and left.
When she returned with the rice for my wife and me, I asked for soy sauce and napkins. She said she’d bring the soy sauce when the rest of the meal came out. Then comes the salads, still no napkins. After doing an inventory check of the napkins at the table, there were three for a table of four. They are also those cheap napkins.
Out comes our Korean BBQ, but no plates to put it on. I ask for plates and napkins...”no problem” she says. My daughter’s meal was fine, but my sons was wrong: he asked for no peppers or onions. She recognized it, and brought it back to the kitchen. Then turns around with the same plate “oh, you said no mushrooms or onions. This plate is right”. He tells her, that he said no peppers or onions. Back the plate goes to the kitchen, and a few minutes later comes back with his dinner, she drops it off and takes off. He notices there are no mushrooms... he loves mushrooms.
Out she comes again, inquiring about refills. I again ask for napkins... but when the drinks come back we get plenty of straws but nary a napkin in her possession.
Finally after her next check in, which is about 5 minutes, I ask about napkins again. “Oh no problem “, she laughs. Finally, we get napkins.
When we first arrived, she asked if we’d been there before. We said no. In spite of this, she did nothing to make sure we would know how to cook on the Korean bbq grill at the table. Also, when she did bring napkins, she placed then right next to the grill, which was still on with an active fire.
The food was alright, nothing we loved. All of us agreed the service was pretty awful, and the food wasn’t anything to warrant a...
Read moreGrand opening and is brand new to the crossgates mall. This place offers true Korean BBQ where you grill your own meat at the table. They offer ramen and other things, we only chose the Korean BBQ options.
For a limited time, the menu is 20% off. This is what enticed us to try it.
Two of us chose the Family meat plan which gives you chicken, shrimp, short rib and strip steak. It comes with two side salads and two white rice bowls.
I have visited quite a few Korean BBQ both in Japan, Montreal and here in the USA. So here is my feedback.
The meat was seasoned well. However, the cross contamination in the way that they serve this is a problem. You are not supposed to put raw chicken next to meat, nor seafood on chicken raw. This is food safety 101.
Other restaurants serve items in smaller dishes seperately preventing cross contamination. Also, serve sauces in two dishes as well, not one.
There is no other Korean BBQ that I know of in the Capital reigon. That being said this place is a bit pricey for what it is.
I don't like that onions, green peppers or veggies don't come included with the meat. You need to pay seperately for those and it's 13$. To me that is a bit insane. If you are gonna charge for veggies, make it ala-carte and give some with the meat.
Waitress was super nice and helpful, but she wasn't trained on the menu. It's a new place so be patient when you go.
I want to love it but they need to tweak some things before I do. Mainly charging less for some of the meat they are offering. The prices are quite high. For the same amount I spent tonight, we could have gone around the corner for Texas de Brazil and gotten more meat offerings.
Please do take this as feedback and improve. We would like to come again if the conditions are right. The meat was seasoned well and was good.
If you've never been to one of these types of places do check it out. It's a great experience. To those who have been to one of these before, you may be disappointed as I was with the price...
Read moreNo consistency. I came here a couple months ago and loved it. Ramen was delicious, appetizers were great, price was very reasonable. Came back tonight and it was terrible top to bottom. We ordered 4 appetizers. 2 of them came out, 2 minutes later the entrees came out, then 5 minutes later the remaining apps came out. Yeah, the kitchen should have paced it properly, but the server shouldn't have delivered them all on top of each other like that. The calamari was chewy and flavorless, the gyoza and harumaki were just packaged frozen and deep fried. Worst of all, the crab Rangoon were different than the ones from my previous visit. Not only were they gross to the point of being inedible, but when I took a bite, the filling shot out and gave me a second degree burn on my hand. My boyfriend ordered shrimp udon and there were like 3 shrimp and it had clearly been made previously and microwaved, not even pan flashed. My "pork belly" fried rice was clearly pulled pork from a cheap cut. No fat, no flavor. Everything was disappointing and our server Jackson was irritating. Being attentive is good but he popped up every 2 minutes before we got our food and then once it was all there he disappeared and we didn't see him until the bill arrived. Then the pen to sign the bill was broken so he was lucky to get a signed receipt, let alone a tip. Just the most annoying experience overall. p and it had clearly been made previously and microwaved, not even pan flashed. My "pork belly" fried rice was clearly pulled pork from a cheap cut.
