We had the pleasure of dining at Chef Shane's restaurant on multiple occasions during my stay, and I must say, it was an exceptional culinary experience that left a lasting impression. The breakfasts were simply unparalleled, as my husband even declared them the best he's ever had. We enjoyed the cozy ambience of the restaurant, especially the comfortable wing back chairs by the window that allowed us to start our day on a relaxed note.
Our dinner experiences were equally delightful. During our first evening, we were treated to a fantastic dinner with a prime table by the window. The atmosphere was charming, and the meal was superb. However, it was our second dinner that truly stood out. Arriving on a busy Saturday night, we were unable to secure a table, but the hostess suggested sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen. Little did we know, this choice would elevate our dining experience to new heights.
Chef Shane himself came over to greet us and announced that he and his assistant would be taking care of us that evening. This personalized touch set the tone for the evening. Besides the corn bread that is served immediately after you order...the highlight of the night was Chef Shane's delectable peach tart, a delightful way to start our culinary journey. Our selections from the menu, including corn dishes and a perfectly tender pork chop, showcased Chef Shane's mastery in creating exquisite flavors.
The wine and cocktail offerings were noteworthy as well, boasting an impressive selection that perfectly complemented our meal. The attention to detail in every aspect of the dining experience truly set this restaurant apart. By the time we thought we couldn't eat another bite, Chef Shane surprised us with his sense of humor, inquiring about our fondness for chocolate. This led to the creation of his favorite French pudding, which we couldn't resist devouring.
For those considering a dining experience at the hotel, I wholeheartedly recommend opting for a seat at the bar in front of the kitchen. This unique vantage point allowed us to witness the culinary magic as it unfolded. The close proximity to Chef Shane's expertise and the energy of the kitchen added an exciting dimension to our evening.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Chef Shane for consistently delivering exceptional food throughout our stay. His passion for culinary artistry is evident in every dish, and his warm hospitality made our dining experiences truly memorable. If you're seeking an unforgettable dining adventure that combines incredible food with a touch of personalized flair, Chef Shane's restaurant is an...
Read moreMy wife and I traveled frm Cincinnati to upstate NY for a anniversary trip and the absolute highlight was our experience at Camp Fire. I cannot speak highly enough about my experience at Camp Fire. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was wonderful. The food was the best I ate during our trip through NY. Chef Christian is creating pure magic in the kitchen. MAGIC!!
Breakfast; the "Backpacker" sandwich was delicious, loaded with incredible bacon, and the egg was pefectly cooked. I could have eaten solely this for every meal but luckily each meal was better than the last!
Lunch; the "Smoked Trout BLT" was the best trout I have had in years. And the "Curry Cranberry Chicken Salad" was so unique and had a mind blowing combination of flavors. Get this, and get a second order to go. 10/10.
And then we got to enjoy our anniversary dinner, and it blew us away! We shared a bowl of venison chili, something we rarely seen outside of our home, and it was hands down the best venison I have ever had. Made me question if I ever wanted beef chili again. I had the Butcher Cut, and my wife had the Blackened Salmon. My steak was seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection, and was incredibly filling. My wife said the Blackened Salmon was the best she has has ever eaten. She usually thinks restaurants over-do it with the blackening, but Chef Christian absolutely NAILED IT. Then he made our anniversay even better and treated us to a Chocolate Lava Cake. It had a unique twist of mexican spices that brought the dessert to another level. Sweet, spicy, and delicious.
10/10!! No, it was better than that, 11/10!!!
Chef Christian blew me away with every meal, and what's even better is that he is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my travels. He remember my name, my wife's name, and better yet our puppy. He warmly greeted us whenever we entered the restuarant, came by our table after we ate to make sure everything was perfect, and said 'hello' whenever we crossed paths in the hotel. He went above and beyond in every encounter, and made our trip one we will always remember. Because of Chef Christian, his staff, and the amazing culinary experience, my wife and I are already planning to return for another...
Read moreWe ordered 5 entrees among our party of 5. WE WILL NOT BE BACK and here is why. OUR MEALS: *Farm to Flatbread: there was a large hair embedded in the dough part of my daughter’s flatbread. It was also barely warm, dry, and tasteless. The waiter removed her plate, apologized, and took it off our bill when requested, but made no offer to have a new plate of food made. She barely ate any of her dinner before discovering the hair, so she left hungry. *2 Campfire Burgers: fries were almost fried black on both plates; so over-fried and limp. The burgers were however cooked medium rare as ordered, but absolutely no toppings. **Crispy Fried Chicken: small chicken thigh was fried almost black and thigh meat was dry and salty. The coleslaw was watery and had an odd inedible taste. The macaroni and cheese was barely warm, dry, and tasteless. Lomo Saltado: meat was not cooked medium rare as ordered, and not even prepared as described. Plate had tiny pieces of overcooked beef, and did not resemble what was anticipated, as waiter said prior to ordering that it was one of his favorite dishes. Came with rice and fries; odd. Again, fries were over-fried until almost black. This was just the absolute worst food ever. For as limited as the menu is, there is no excuse for what is being served to customers. Menu items we ordered were between $16-29. We did tell our server about the over-fried food when he took my daughter’s meal. The cooks and waiter clearly knew the food was terribly prepared, but decided to serve it anyway. The only item that was delicious was the cornbread, served before a lengthy wait for our food. As we left, a woman at the hotel main desk asked how our meals were. We told her and she jotted down some notes to share with the hotel manager. I get the impression that a new staff is cooking. We honestly did not see anyone in the restaurant that looked happy with their meals tonight. I was compelled to write this review; no exaggeration, it was really that bad. Shocked as most of the previous reviews have been favorable, hence the reason we tried this restaurant to begin with. The manager is welcome to get in touch with me for additional...
