Bleu Island Bar & Exquisite Cuisine — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I understand that this is a new establishment and so I will give grace for that. I was just here on 9/11 , party of 19 i believe. I think and my experience was ok. I will say the owner was very nice and tried his best to give us a good experience. What I didn’t like was how we had to use plastic utensils to eat - we were given the pack and passed it around and the placemats of the table we put down. I think initially we were gonna be outside but opted to go inside but still, plastic forks ? No. We made previous accommodations and I feel they should’ve been better prepared. The menu is limited and the portions were kind of small. I personally only got apps and it was basic at best. The drink were good we enjoyed those. We did appreciate them bringing out cake and sparklers for my friend and singing hbd to her that was a cute touch.

It was also hot in there, the AC was not functioning properly and that could be a problem for future guest.

It wasn’t HORRIBLE but could definitely use a lil more work. I will always support black business but if ppl patronize your business you have to do ur best to give them a great experience,...

First time experience at Blue Island. We were a group of 5 and we all had a fantastic time! We love Caribbean cuisine and it was a nice bonus that we could enjoy Caribbean food in an elevated atmosphere, meaning this is a waterfront location so there is seating overlooking the water and the area is very live! This makes the property very unique as there are not many Caribbean restaurants in the area with a full on sit down dining experience and none that I know of overlooking the water. There is also inside dining which is where we sat with our group because the place was already packed by early evening. We were hoping to get seating outside but overall, had a nice dinner inside where there was a pianist that night, (intimate lo key, relaxing setting inside, and full on PARTY atmosphere outside, with great music!!!) the blue rum punch is everything! Will definitely return and arrive earlier for seating outside. hope in the future as they grow, they will...

Went to this place tonight, it was not what the reviews said. First off they had a birthday celebration with a child playing connect 4 and emptying the connect 4 pieces on the floor every min. If that wasn't bad enough. We ordered and started with appetizers which we got in a timely manner, but our drinks came in a plastic cups, we got better cups for our water than our drinks. If that wasn't bad enough a table that came in way after we got there got served their meal first..... if that wasn't bad enough when my appetizers came out there was no plates to go with it and when I did ask for some they were both dirty. All the hype and this place is below subpar. It is small, cramped, no ac or ventilation so it was hot, and all the servers looked like I was at hooter. CLASSY, I DONT THINK SO.
