Breezes Island Grill Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I ordered curry shrimp with white rice, a small pumpkin soup, mac salad, mac & cheese, and oxtails with rice and peas. The service was extremely slow and unorganized—I waited an hour for my food. After placing my order, I asked for a receipt, but they claimed the system was down and couldn’t print one.

When I finally got the food, I didn’t check the bag right away and noticed the soup was missing. I went back in, and because I didn’t have a receipt (which they couldn’t give me), they tried to make me pay again for the soup they forgot. I eventually got it, and to be fair, the pumpkin soup was delicious.

Unfortunately, when I got home, I realized they gave me two mac & cheeses, no mac salad, and no rice for the curry shrimp. The curry shrimp was watery and overly spicy—like they boiled 10 hot peppers in a pot of water and poured it over the shrimp. The oxtails with rice and peas were just okay.

Overall, the long wait, missing items, lack of accountability, and poor food quality made this a disappointing experience. Definitely not...

Breezes Island Grill.. is my ONLY place for Jamaican food take-out... Baldwin needed Breezes, I highly recommend the succulent OXTAIL that always falls right off the bone, rice & peas, and cabbage, their soups is is always on point, my favorite red peas soup, NUFF MEAT.... SHRIMP RASTA RASTA.. OH GOSH Man!!! FULL A FLAVOR.. sweet sweet sweet plantains...

Top-notch customer sevice, the staff is always friendly and smiling.. i also tried jerk chicken, sweet chili chicken, curried goat.. always perfectly seasoned, and neva know dem have jerk shrimp and grits.. 💃 AH...

Unfortunately I didnt get to try the food or even get inside. I arrived about 4:30pm on this past Sunday. Despite online, the sign on the building and the sign along the street saying open. The restaurant was closed and empty. I had been looking forward to relaxing , having a drink and chatting with friends.
