Carvel — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Here's a story. Do you like Wednesday BOGO Sundaes? This might not be the place for you.

I'm being somewhat generous with 3 stars - 5 stars is a rookie rating and this establishment honestly hasn't earned that from me yet.

I live in the area and frequent the Covert Ave location often. Since this location is on my way home on Wednesdays, I stopped in for the 2nd time recently for a Buy One Get One SUNDAE special. I will usually buy a few for my kids...

The ice cream being runny from the start, or not having Carvelite flavors isn't my gripe...

Not honoring the age-old Wednesday deal like every other location I've walked into, made a world of a difference. The advertisement is clear: 2 for 1 Sundaes...

what's in a sundae? Ice Cream, a topping and a syrup. On the Website, there is NO reference to what size, although i've never had trouble getting a jr. size in the deal; a sundae is a sundae is a sundae.

The worker clearly stated that i could only get a small. Ok, that's fine, no problem... I proceeded with my order, each sundae got sprinkles, nothing special. I ordered 4 (should have paid for 2) - the total came out to $15!!!!!!!

Can we do the math here? If the small was (dont recall the exact change) $4... how did we come to 15????

I then said: these are $4 each and i ordered 2... even if they were $5, after tax it would NOT have been $15!!! The response: "The buy one get one is ice cream only, without toppings"...

Funny, the sign next to the register shows: buy one get one SUNDAE... let's go over this once more: WHAT does this establishment consider a sundae? Ice cream without a topping?

I reluctantly paid the incorrect amount, the ice cream was melting, my kids were waiting, yet on my way home called the Covert Ave location and asked them the details about the promotion: "They did WHAT?! Sure, we'll charge for extra toppings but a sundae is ice cream a topping and a syrup...or you can get 2 toppings if no syrup..."

Great location, but certainly not 5 stars. I'll give you 3 for cleanliness and having soft serve flavors i havent seen.

I stopped in on 5/25/22 at approximately 8 pm. The guy behind the counter was nice, but this purchase was not.

I order an ice cream cake a few days before I needed it. When I went to pick it up, they did not have it. He handed me a cake that he said was mine, but of course it wasn’t what I ordered, because when we cut it open after singing happy birthday, it was the wrong flavors inside. Most awful ran franchise carvel has. They should take control back from the nasty owners. Bought a custom cake, went to pickup at 11 and the night before confirmed 11am pickup. Google says store opens at 11am. Owner didn’t show up until 12, party was over by that time and no cake for my daughter. Owner wasn’t even apologetic.
