Harbor Delicatessen — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

The deli has a bit of a country charm but it ends there. Charged a different price daily for the same sandwich, today's price was 6.29 for two eggs on a bagel, yesterday on a roll was $4 plus. Oddly when i questioned the price he said the roll is more than a bagel. Two days before, two eggs on a bagel was 3.90. If you like eggshells in your scrambeld eggs, this is your place. The bagels were fresh although tastless unless you enjoy a paste like flavor. One woman coughs in her balled up fist while chewing her food then grabs your sandwich and napkins. Didn't go back from last year because the same woman open mouthed phlemy coughed walking into the kitchen to get my food. The place has a dirty feel and that goes for the staff as well. No gloves were worn while dipping into the fridge to get the chicken salad. Dirty liked they rolled out if bed and went to work. One guy looks like he was in a dirty uniform type attire that was would be worn at car mechanic job or oil burner service. The only reason why i stepped in the last four times is because Bagel Dock in Freeport are on vacation for three weeks. If you want a clean establishment with delicious egg sandwiches, tasty fresh bagels, be charged the same amount each time with a friendly, clean looking staff, i highly recommend...

Deciding to make your own deli meats because one mistake happened with boars head. Seems like they just want to save money. Funny how this place thinks they can make better products than a company who has been around for 120 years! Imagine they only been in business 27 years and they think by making their own turkey will bring back their business. When this all passes over and boars head is the product all want I hope boars head never allows them to have their product again and let them continue to make their own dry turkey. The neighborhood changed that’s why they are slow this is a perfect excuse to bring cheap products in and charge the same. Pay close attention how the prices haven’t changed but they are making their own products which is way cheaper! For years they had the privilege to carry such a great brand but turned on them just to get a little news attention. It will all die down but people won’t forget the desperate move they made to get some publicity. I for sure trust them so much more making their own products you know since they are the experts. Good luck. New Yorkers customers will stay loyal in the long run...

Harbor Deli used to be really good when I first started patronizing them. Good food, fair prices.

As of the past year or so the quality of the food has gone way down, and the prices have gone way up!

Now the latest move on there part is to charge the credit card using customer an extra 4% charge above there already inflated prices. You want potential customers to patronize your establishment, yet you have the audacity to charge them an extra cost just for using a credit/debit card..

Obviously your not pulling in enough cash? You need to charge every card using customer that extra 4% charge!

Between the poor quality of food, the ridiculous prices, and now a 4% surcharge for non cash. I have gone from a everyday customer to once a month customer..... And after this insult, I am now a never again...
