Originally I didnāt want to write this review, however what Iāve endured over the last three days have truly caused me to change my mind.
I stopped by here on Friday evening around 6pm and order a quarter jerk chicken, macaroni pie, and a side of plantain. My partner ordered an oxtail with rice and peas.
The lady at the counter was nice it seemed as though she could have been overwhelmed or wasnāt use to running a counter alone. This is because while she was prepping orders, she would have the following customer wait upwards of 5 minutes before taking their order. But Iāve worked in food so I understood how things can be at times and paid it no mind.
Once we received the food after waiting roughly 15 minutes we had no issues. I was actually looking forward to eating my first meal of day. However, that changed quickly when I noticed my plantain were cold. I noticed the plantains were retrieved from a silver counter top in the corner. I continued to eat it nonetheless.
I already knew the jerk chicken wasnāt going to be grilled because most places tend to bake them. My issue came in with the pie it wasnāt all the way bad. But it did have a taste as though someone poured half a bottle of bitters in the mixture. I ate as much of the food as I could seeing as it was my first meal and I was hungry. Worst mistake!
At approximately 3am Saturday morning I bolted to the bathroom and have been going constantly since. According to the reviews itās a hit or miss with this location which is fine. However, for me my experience and what Iām dealing with is enough to turn me away for good.
Also to add my partner did not enjoy their meal either. Some of the pieces of oxtail looked like chicken bone and other pieces were simply larger than life.
I wish this establishment great success on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEach time I visit this place Iām reminded why I donāt want to return. I ordered jerked chicken, the young lady asked me what did I want with it. I asked her what are my options, she said white rice, rice and peas or Rasta pasta. I ordered Rasta pasta and jerked chicken, then a jerk pork with rice and peas and a beef patty. She asked what kind of gravy with the jerk pork, so I said oxtail. This is supposed to be the lunch special. So I was very surprised when the total was $42.00. I said why is it so high . When I checked I realized that I was charged one price for the Rasta pasta and a separate additional price for the jerked chicken even though they served it in one container as a meal, then to add insult to injury I was charged .50 cents for the gravy. Then each question I asked her. She responded with a condescending āyesss Maaam,ā in between the personal conversation she was having with her ear buds in. The patty was cold, I donāt know what temperature they keep it at. Love my people butā¦ā¦..Neva again. Fooled me once shame on you but for me to allow you to keep fooling me over and over, shame on me. The food isnāt even that great. You are in a predominantly white neighborhood, with all that competition you need to bend over backwards with your customer service and stop nickel and dime your customer. You have a big pot of gravy you are going to throw out at the end of the day and you are charging customers for 2 spoons of gravy....

I'd say if u want Jamaican food learn to make it urself bc idk what they're doing wrong in there that's making people's stomachs go off the rails. To me, this seems like the type of restaurant that's open j to be open and all the money is going to the owners pocket and towards rent to stay open, not towards upgrading the quality. And because of the aftermath of the food, I don't wanna imaging how much is not being spent on maintaining cleanliness. At least stay away from the beef patties, that's the one thing I didn't finish bc it didn't look appetizing, ive seen and had better patties from late night pizza spots. If u want jerk food, look beyond here.
A tip for the public, when reviewing places always look at the most recent reviews, because that's most likely the type of experience you will have since the reviews are closest to when you are intriguing about an establishment. To prove my point further, look at the most recent review before mine, similarities in the appeal of the food and bathroom visits. Stay aware yall and make sure ur treating yourselves to the best meals you can get...
