Otto's Sea Grill — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

May 26, 2018.... I've gone to this restaurant many times and use to love it.. I'm doubling over in pain all day.. Im sure it was the horrible food.. My bf spent close to 200.00 between 2 steak dinners and a shrimp cocktail not on the menu.. We arrived after the air show at Jones Beach.. He wanted to top the day off with a wonderful dinner.. I wanted Japanese the next block down.. We got there the place was empty.. We drank warm water.. No ice???? .. No soda no drinks.. The skinny 2 pieces of bread they gave us were hard as a rock.. Our waitress was there only two days.. We ordered 2 t bone steak dinners.. Med rare and med.. Both came back over done.. We get new ones that still were overcooked.. At this point we should of left.. Asked for shrimp cocktail which had to be made.. The sauce dripped off like water.. The baked potato was so over cooked and cold.. For 148.00 I'm sure the steak dinner we sent back we paid for.. It bothered me that for 2 dinners that were horrible it was so much money.. The specials had no price on it.. He didn't mind spending $$$ but to get overcooked fatty t bones steak.. Bread that can break your teeth.. The veggies had zero taste to it.. Boiled overcooked.. Never ever again will I go back.. I almost twisted my ankel coming out of the ladies room.. The waitress who was horrible was tipped well because it was her second day.. Never refreshed our hot water.. I sat on the left corner inside.. The area smelt like urine too.. Manager you need a new cook.. Not looking for a im sorry please come back.. Hell no.. I'm in pain so bad.. Im hoping I don't have food poisioning.. Get a new cook.. Make your potatoes in a microwave for 5 minutes so at least they are ediable.. Took one steak home for the dogs but tossed it due to my pains.. The Nautical Mile has better food elsewhere.. Save your $$$$$ do not eat here.. Whoever gave it 5 stars must be coke heads. With no taste buds... Only way to make up for this owner of Otts is to give us our money back.. I give it...

I'll start with the horrible service. First we were ignored for about 20 mins after being seated and it was not overly busy which is a good thing for Otto's because service was horribly SLOW. We finally get a waiter and this guy is the worst waiter I've ever experienced. He took our drink order and disappeared for another 20 minutes. When he came back to take our order we put in the whole order because we didn't know if we'd see him again. Boy were we right with assuming that. He delivered our appetizer, when he did, I ordered another drink. A drink I never got. Our dinner was delivered and I ordered my drink again. Mind you it was just a soda. NOTHING!!! An EMPTY cup sat at the end of the table throughout half my appetizer and entire meal. We stacked up our garbage waited again to see him to ask for the check. That was another 20 min ordeal. We sat there and watched the other waiters working but not our waiter, he is the worst. He finally brings the check and has the audacity to say " he hopes it's ok that he added 18% gratuity to the bill". Which got a resounding NO!!! With a very quiet explanation. I told him we were 2 people not 8 or 10 or more and then of how invisible he was and how he did NOT take care of us at all. I should have complained to the manager but didn't. Now it's 4am and I'm on my 3rd trip to the bathroom. Needless to say the food was as bad as he was! So here's my review. At 48 years old this is my worst experience in a restaurant. It actually hurts to give Otto's 1 star. I dont want to do it, but for now I have no choice. I traveled from Pittsburgh to have dinner with my husband and kids there last Friday. We wanted to go to the first place he took me on our first trip to New York many years ago. We made a reservation via Google. We thought everything was all set. Well, when we got there, after an hour and fifteen minutes driving from the hotel in secaucus, the whole strip was deserted! Why would I be able to make reservations if they were closed for the season? That's a little nugget I learned from another place that actually was open. I digress; On top of that, we wound up at a diner where we got over salted food. I was so uncomfortable dressed in our nice clothing at a diner. Worst night.😣. I really want to apologize for the 1 star, and I would be happy to take it down if maybe managment will promise to do something about that reservation maker. That totally ruined a trip to New York for us. Ottos was literally the only thing we had scheduled for Friday. We had breakfast, swam early, and then we rested all day until it was time to go. I wanted to give a 5 star rating because the meal and service I remember excellent and definitely deserve that.
