Rosa's Pizza — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

First and last time at Rosa's pizza. Waited on line for over 15 minutes before they even decided to start serving us. They were more concerned with who was picking up an order. Then finally after placing my order, had to wait another 15 minutes for it to come out of the oven because they had hardly any slices on the counter. While waiting, the pies that came out were thrown directly on the counter (no tray), or on top of the stack of pizza boxes. Square pie finally came out and they decide to cut it next to the register in front of people waiting on line... and a few comments from the staff were a bit uncalled for. I could see others were getting impatient too. No thanks. So disappointed. Will stick with Francesca's on Merrick Road. Love the people there and I think the pizza is...

I’ll just get to the point. The pizza is nothing special. The white is bland and not good. The pepperoni and plain slices are comparable to a Sbarros, or another chain type of pizzeria. If you don’t know what sbarros is they were a chain pizzeria in malls, (it reminded me of the sbarros in kings plaza growing up). The Sicilian was the best of the slices, and it was also bland not good. There’s so many other great pizza options around bellmore/massapequa/merrick/Wantagh that there’s zero reason to ever go here again. The staff wasn’t rude but they weren’t friendly at all either, especially the guy taking the orders. You could use the excuse that it was busy, but I routinely go to la piazza and undici and they are always packed and are always more than happy...

With so many good pizzerias nearby(Umberto's and Bramolo) you have to be exceptional. Rosa's is not. It appears they will try to live off their name and it won't be enough. That particular spot in that small strip of stores has been occupied by 2 or 3 other pizza places and all went belly up.

The upside down slice which is what they pride themselves on is just ok. The sauce is rich and tangy and it's just overloaded with Parmesan cheese. Not really appetizing. The Grandma slice was nothing special either. I planned to try a dish, but I doubt I'll go back.

I'm assuming the relatively cheap prices will keep them afloat for a few months. Once they raise them that'll be the end. Also, the place is literally the size...
