This is a new and one of the few Halal steakhouse in New York. We decided to give it a try, and we weren’t disappointed. We started with some appetizers, Loaded Nachos (it’s good, but it’s a lot), and House Sampler (recommended to try different appetizers): mozzarella sticks, sriracha shrimps, and buffalo wings. The Juicy Lucy burger came with coleslaw and fries was delicious. The Full Rack of Beef Ribs wasn’t anything like I expected. The rib barely had any meat on it, and it was drenched in sweet bbq sauce-it was uneatable. The sautéed vegetables were pretty good too. As for drinks we had Margarita and Mango Mojito-which I really recommend. Nevertheless, it was good food, and more than enough for us to pack it to go. Lastly, the price for the Beef Ribs was crossed out, so hopefully they revised the menu.
Update review (01/05/21)
I visited Sam's Steak & Grill after two years, and was extremely disappointed. I understand that I got there a bit late (around 9:30ish), but there's no reason why the food should've been the way it was. I asked for the burgers to be well done. Instead, they were burnt on the exterior and raw on the interior. The food was inedible. All I could taste was the burnt flavor. Also, the Juicy Lucy did not have cheese oozing out of the actual patty. The cheese was just on top of the patty as it would've been on any cheeseburger. The fries were probably the best part of the meal. The mojito was pretty bland but the Piña Colada was good.
The waiter was nice enough to come around and ask if we wanted any dessert or anything else. I told him about the burnt food, and showed him as well. He apologized profusely and explained that perhaps the chefs were in a rush as it was close to closing time. He also stated that he’s aware this does not excuse the poor quality of the food. He brought this issue up to the manager/owner and he decided to deduct the cost of one burger.
Usually restaurant staff stay behind later than the stated closing time to finish up/clean up. If the staff of this restaurant need to be out by 10 PM, then perhaps they should change their restaurant hours to 9:30 PM, this way the customers won’t feel rushed, and the staff will have time to...

Sam's Steak & Grill is almost the same set up as its predecessor Harper's, except for a few odds and ends thrown around.
Staff was pleasant and accommodating.
Dinning here seems like I'm at Church and on a lunch break. It's quiet and feels very peaceful and the many quiet families and babies around lend to this air. Many of the patrons looked middle east-ish, TO ME. Many scarves, turbans, Hijabs and Kufis and I felt a quite under-dressed and a wee bit exposed in my ripped, fitted jeans and my tank.
(I assumed it was) a bachelor party who came in after I did and man I hope those dudes got at least a little bit rowdy after leaving Sam's because maaaaan, they were so laid back, so chill. Brahs, all this talk of your Snapchat and IG accounts does not a great bachelor party make. Haven't you seen Hangover! My apologies, I digressed with my evesdropping and thing.
My burger was fine in all it's crumbling glory. My fries were good, my virgin (it's a halal establishment) colada was just what the doctor ordered after plantation toiling.
Story about the waitress, the menu and I: When I told the waitress I didn't want any onions in my American burger she replied "that's okay because we don't put it" when she saw my baffled look she "explained" "it's on the menu but we don't put it". Okay. Strange. She listed some items that were available but not listed in the menu (confusing, you include what you don't have and exclude what you do?) So, although these aren't in the menu, there's lamp chops, spicy burger, fillet ribs bbq sandwich......she said some more items but she was quick and...arrrmm never mind.
Nice, different vibe but...
Read moreThis restaurant has the ability to be a great restaurant. After coming over the years and coming recently, it's now been a disappointment and let down. I don't usually leave reviews but I had no choice because you guys need to step it up!
People see you on TV ads and think this is such a great restaurant and steakhouse, but it's just an old bar converted to a "steakhouse". The standards need to be higher because customers have high expectations coming here.
Here is where management can improve:
Check the food quality, some people complained that food came out cold or undercooked, I can confirm now that's true.
Bring different items on the menu. The only things that are good here are the main dishes. Lets be honest, the appetizers and burgers are not that good.
Please re-do your decor. You have old decorations from an old bar that doesn't fit into your restaurant. Make it yours and make it unique.
Service needs improvement, the servers don't care enough about the customers. Customer service goes a long way, customers remember when they feel like they haven't been treated well or if the waiter could care less about the customer.
Stop cutting corners, if you want to charge $$-$$$ dollar sign prices, stop serving frozen patties, cheese wiz, styrofoam to-go boxes. You need some wow factor, there is nothing separating you from the competition.
Make some changes. The people of the community want you guys to succeed and do well. We also want to come to a great restaurant and recommend it to our...
