Trotters Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

So lived here 20 years and its been a solid choice FOREVER but just had a meal that made me write this Not the bar food that I typically order which is also great but the specials we had tonight were amazing and simply way better then the price reflects . The staff has always been great but the gentleman Justin is simply not a waiter hes a proffesional server like you would expect at a 5 star joint in Europe without the 8 hour flight . He does his job that well .

2 adults , My wife a had $60 steak that was surprisingly only $38 & my Pork chop special was good enough to write home about with two delicious sides for $32

Chicken soup to start was great and made in house and the dessert complimented it all in technically a bar but it should be called a way more expensive restaurant

You would have to work really hard to find another meal this good for two adults for 2 hundred these days and we walked out for $120 for the tab and whatever you tip is up to you but they deserve more they whatever you decide to give

I’ve only been here twice, but both times it took FOREVER for our order. 2.5 hours is unacceptable, let alone when the restaurant isn’t even super busy. Several other tables arrived after we did, and received their orders long before we did. Absolutely ridiculous. Oh, did I mention we had a reservation?! One free drink for waiting 30 minutes after our reserved time and then we were given two Sprites and a seltzer after our order didn’t come for an additional another 2 hours. We finally told the waitress we were leaving if our food wasn’t ready within the next 20 minutes, and low and behold, our order arrived. Food was so so. Definitely not a two and a half hour wait worth, but alright. Drinks were good. Waitress was meh. It was hard to get her attention WHEN we could even find her, but she was alright (she was actually the same waitress we had the first time I went in). Seems like this would be a good place to sit at the bar and catch up with an old friend, but not a good place to go for food if your not in a position to spend a good amount of time...

Found this gem a few months back during the pandemic..passed by it a number of times and never went in until one day I said we are trying this place and all I have to say is wow!!! From the appetizers, main courses, specials, burgers everything has been delicious! We go like 3 times a week if not more and I am working my way through their menu which has quite a bit on it lol...I can eat the food over and over again. The staff is so welcoming and so sweet..love Helen and Georgi! the bartenders are on point. We go mostly on Wednesday nights Saturday or Sundays nights when our fav bartender is there Nick lol...but all the bartenders are great! They also keep the place very clean and the bathrooms as well. As busy as they could get, the food comes out pretty quick that is a big plus too but I also do not mind waiting if i have to for the food, it is worth it to me. Also it is...
