The Sweet Life Bake Shop — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

The photos I posted are from May 23. My first time going. The pastries were AMAZING!! So why am I leaving a bad review? I visit this place 3x. Including today. The first time, I was the only customer, and the service was a little hesitant. I got those two items pictured. I went yesterday for a cannoli. That was smooth. And in was the only person in there again. But today! I was going for a cannoli again. There were a few ppl in there. A man sitting, and a motorcycle couple. I walked in after the couple, I know that because I parked as I saw them walking in the parking lot. Anyway. They got serviced and I am next in line. There were two women in the front assisting the couple. I'm in there about 2-3 min. Two women come in after me. I'm standing at the counter with my my cash in hand, after the couple left happily. The woman that helped the couple ignored me and walked in the "cooking area" and the other woman helped the woman who came in after me. To the point that the customer came in front of me to further ask her question. Now hear me out.. the first two times I went there, I got hesitant service, but I also was the only customer at the time I came in. Today, it was kinda busy, and I was ignored. So now I must point out that I was the only black person in there. So I left. I was only going to spend $4. so I took my little $4 to another business. While the pastries were very good. I’ve been coming here since they opened, and I will keep coming back. Their stuff is great- but what I respect the most about this business is that the owners Nicole and her husband Jose is that they always make it right, and they teach their staff to do the right thing. Last weekend I excitedly went to go pick up my mothers day dessert and a special treat it was late in the afternoon about two hours before closing so I totally understand when the young lady that was helping me told me there was none left but made a good recommendation of something else- she was right and my family loved it. I also ordered some chocolate covered strawberries only to realize when I got home they were the wrong ones, sure I was disappointed but I called and the young lady that helped me happened to be the one who answered the phone not only did she apologize but she assured me by packing up some of the strawberries I wanted and made sure to wait for my husband to go and pick them up for even though they were about to close for the day. Nicole also took it an extra step by personally apologizing to me, these things matter, not because she messed up but because they made it right, we all make mistakes no one is perfect but they made the choice to be kind and it’s always a breathe of fresh air when I have pleasant...
