Last night, I went to Applebeeās with six other adults and a toddler. I actually called ahead before we came to let them know we had a group of seven, including a child, and asked if there was a wait. They told me there wasnāt, so we headed over. We arrived about 15 minutes later and were seated right away, which was great but unfortunately, things went downhill from there.
Our server, Riley, came over after we had already been seated for about 10ā15 minutes. She didnāt greet us or ask how we were doing she just asked what we wanted to drink with her hands clasped and a very blank, borderline irritated expression. The whole interaction felt cold and dismissive, like we were just a burden to her. She only brought two of the drinks out at first, and we specifically asked for the toddlerās drink since she was asking for it. Riley told us it was ācoming with the rest.ā A few minutes later, she brought out three more drinks, including the chocolate milk for the child, and took our appetizer order. But still not everyone had their drinks, and we had already been there for over 25 minutes.
Eventually, Riley came back to take our meal orders, again with no notepad, which surprised us considering we were a party of seven. We reminded her that two people still hadnāt gotten their drinks, and she just repeated, āItās coming,ā and walked away. No apology, no sense of urgency.
We finally got the last drinks and appetizers, but by this point we had already been sitting there for nearly 45 minutes with just drinks and starters. When our food came out, we had been there for over an hour. One of my friends had a piece of hair actually wrapped around her ribs not just a stray hair on the plate, but physically wrapped into the food. Another friend ordered a medium steak and received it practically rare barely cooked at all. Riley didnāt come check on us or ask how anything was. We had to stop her as she walked past to let her know what was going on, and even then, she didnāt apologize or say anything helpful she just took the plates and left.
At that point, we had no appetite left and asked for boxes and the check when she returned. She brought the plates back about 20 minutes later, but we just packed the food up and left. We didnāt even eat at the restaurant. The worst part is that both my friend and my boyfriend got sick afterward and were throwing up the next day after eating their food from there. Thankfully the toddler didnāt eat much because I canāt imagine how much worse it couldāve been.
We spent around $200, and even with the poor service and all the issues, I still left a tip not because it was deserved, but out of habit and respect for restaurant workers in general. But this experience was beyond disappointing. Iāve worked in restaurants and Iāve managed in them, and I know what good service looks like. This wasnāt it. The restaurant was nearly empty, so thereās no excuse for how unprofessional and careless everything was handled.
This was our first time going to this Applebeeās and it will definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExperience at the Applebee's this location was someone to be desired. Young man who seated Us in the first dining room as you come in the door it was fun until he set up a table two tables back push them together to fit nine people around five of which were screaming kids guessing their age as of nursery school too second grade level they were seated right across from us. They were accompanied by three adult women that I took to be at least two of them be the parents of some of these children they did speak to them about keeping their voices at an indoor level and all the children did was talk back to them and say you're not my teacher. The whole time we tried to eat dinner they were screaming loudly I did complain to the young man who seated us and all he did was smile and say he was sorry. He didn't offer to seat them elsewhere. I ordered the 8 Oz steak medium 12 done it was so tough I could not cut it it had shards of me on the outside that virtually peel off you could not chew them my potatoes were cold. However I will say our waitress was phenomenal she did her job for officially and was very pleasant and came back several times to see if we needed anything. This was between the hours of 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday May 25th. We have an Applebees in Watertown New York but we happen to be in this area because my husband is receiving chemo his last days of it and preparing for his stem cell on this coming Wednesday May 30th we wanted to enjoy a quiet big dinner as we haven't been out much traveling back and forth every 3 weeks for his treatments and figured we would stop and have a nice meal. I believe that they tried to cram everybody into that one side of the restaurant so they didn't have to open any other so they didn't have to clean it. I would have thought the employee young gentleman seated us when I made a complaint about the noise would have been trained enough to offer us another seat or to move them in the first place as they arrived after us. Even the waitress he is signed to that table she was due to get off and she spoke to him about it and said you're giving me this many to wait on when I'm due to get off in 10 minutes and all he did was shrug his shoulders at her. She also did phenomenal job putting up with the kids screaming crying changing their mind of what they wanted and the parents were not even helping them to select and suggest something they let the kids do the ordering. In my opinion these children over ran the restaurant in over ran the waitress. Andover ran the few pages that were already seated in that area but didn't care to be seated near them because the parents were making them mind. We have a long haul yet of coming down , twice a week for the next four to six months after the stem cell is done so my husband can be checked and I can honestly say I will not return to this location of Applebee's in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately the Applebee's on W. Henrietta Rd has gone downhill big time! It's quite visible that it is under very poor management. There were at least 3 other tables who were very visibly upset. It just seems to me that this restaurant does not have their act together at all! We never even got silverware. We had to ask for our silverware as did other tables around us. I over heard one lady say "I need silverware pronto" because everything else was taking FOREVER to arrive. Another guy at another table handed over his credit card to pay his bill. His card was gone for over 20 minutes as they stood there waiting for his credit card to get back to him so they could leave. He was very upset about that. My waiter seemed very incompetent. I mean how many times do you have to ask for something? several actually, before you even get it. For an example I had to ask for my daughter's drink about 6 times, even asking other waiters if they can get it because our waiter isn't getting it for her. Had to ask for take out boxes and a bag several times. My food order came out wrong after waiting a ridiculous amount of time for it to even arrive. I was afraid to send it back because I didn't want to wait another hour for it to come back out while the rest of the people in my party were finishing their meal. The manager came out once to talk to a table of guests because they requested it. He didn't seem very helpful to them at all and then went and hid in the back somewhere and never came back out. Never visited any of the tables to make sure people were enjoying their visit at the restaurant he was running.... probably because he knew no one was enjoying themselves at all. I should have known the moment I walked into the place to walk back out because the look on people's faces were not that of happy guests, as a whole. Oh and the icing on the cake.... I went to order dessert and my waiter advised against doing that. He said he can't promise the dessert will come out in a timely manner because the cooks are unpredictable. REALLY?? Why didn't you just advise people not to sit down and order food once they walked through the door? Seems to me that he was the one that needed to get his act together. He had a lot of unhappy costumers. Some people are just not cut out to be a waiter, he is one of them! But this goes way beyond the service provided by the waiter. This restaurant has a lot of problems and is in desperate need of new management and retraining of all their workers. 7+ years ago this restaurant was a nice place to go to eat, friendly waiters and waitresses and they really seemed to have had their act together. Sadly that just isn't the...
