I'm distraught to write a bad review about a place I have loved over the years, but this situation was handled so poorly that I can not contain my feelings. I've been going here for years and loved the bagels and loved the service. After going week after week with my brother in law for our weekly bagel, it was appropriate to purchase a $15 gift card for his birthday. When I purchased the card, the person said that they were having problems with the cards and wanted to "make sure" everything worked so she swiped the card to show me the $15 was on the card.
Upon using the card for the first time, there was confusion saying the car was used and $9.99 was already used. 2 buttered bagels and 2 coffees cost my brother in law another $8 on top of a $15 gift card. When I went up to explain that I had purchased that card for $15 and it was the first use, even though there seemed to be an acknowledgement that there was issues with cards past, she was not going to back down. 2 bagels and 2 coffees cost us $15+8. I guess the customer is wrong and I bet it cost 50 cents to make a bagel.
Sorry but I can not go back here again. This was so mismanaged. I understand problems with computers but face to face with a known good customer being told that they were wrong is unacceptable. A simple solution should have been a wash, yet we were forced to "pay up" $23+ for 2 bagels and 2 coffees + the embarrassment is not worth going back.
Like I said, I would never write a bad review, but this one made a big impact...
Read moreI recently visited this charming little cafe/deli, drawn in by the promise of a delightful breakfast. Opting for the egg everything bagel with chicken salad and a side of macaroni salad, I was eager to indulge in a satisfying meal. However, my experience turned out to be a mixed bag.
The egg everything bagel, a classic favorite of mine, fell short of expectations. The texture was disappointingly rubbery and tough, making each bite a challenge. The chicken salad, which accompanied the bagel, lacked the flavorful punch I had hoped for; it was rather bland and uninspired. Even the macaroni salad failed to impress, offering little in the way of taste.
Despite these culinary disappointments, I found solace in the cafe's inviting atmosphere. The cozy ambiance and pleasant decor created a welcoming environment, perfect for a leisurely meal or a quick bite. The service, too, was commendable, with attentive staff members ensuring a smooth dining experience.
In conclusion, while the cafe excels in ambiance and service, its food offerings leave much to be desired. With a little more attention to detail and flavor, this place has the potential to become a culinary gem in the city. I would recommend it for a casual hangout or a coffee date, but be prepared for a hit-or-miss experience when it comes...
Read moreI'm giving a 2 star rating because the situation was resolved, we were overcharged almost double on our last vist. I had my 3yr old with me and it was a bit crowded but the person who took our order wrote our order down and gave me the list to hand to the cashier to check us out, my son was my main focus at the time since it was a little crowded I handed the lady my ticket and card and went on my way, checked my bank account later in the day to find I was charged double. My wife called ove we realized that we were over charged (out east about 45mins from location) was advised yes we were charged wrong but we could only come back they couldnt credit the card back so we left our plans early and went back to the location to be told it could have been canceled over the phone and just recharged. Day wasted, yes on my part I should have checked on there part they saw how much we had they should have picked up that the total was to high for 3 bagels and 3 drinks, it is just common courtesy when your running a business you look out for...
