Retro Kitchen — Restaurant in Town of Huntington

1st time eating here. Had to find the entrance on the N. side of an office building on the N. bound side of Broad Hollow Rd/rte. 110.

Food was excellent. Items we tried were the Grand Marnier french toast, and their signature burger, with blue cheese, hold the bacon. Side of sweet potato fries. Although I couldn't taste any of the menu-advertised flavor on the French toast, it was still tasty with good texture. When I mentioned I couldn't taste any of the flavors (orange zest etc), they were nice enough to surprise me with a second order. I still couldn't taste anything but the toast, but it was still very tasty and I appreciated their efforts. Worthy of note: Our 1st burger was so good, we shared a 2nd one. So tasty, I didn't realize I didn't add ketchup until after the burger was gone. Would definitely return for this burger (& they didn't skimp on the cheese!). Sweet potato fries were hot and tasty. Did add pepper and ketchup out of habit.

It was our waitress Nicole's 1st day and I appreciated she took the time to help my mother figure out the menu items.

Definitely "retro" decor as my mother actually recognized the tables' pattern from when she was a kid. I Love Lucy reruns played on the t.v. and a juke box stood in the corner. No, I didn't think to try a song on it.

Negatives: -Didn't see a wheelchair ramp, only stairs. -Bathrooms are through a door & around 2 corners without any signs pointing the way. Difficult for people mobility issues to get to/from (but not impossible) and I've eaten places where the walk was longer. I'm giving 2 stars, (being generous), as the decor is cute fifties and, the place is clean. I cannot fathom how this place has a 4.8 rating as I would not recommend it for breakfast, brunch or lunch to anyone, ever! I do believe they have corporate parties as it's in an industrial type area. It's an order and pay at cashier and then they drop food. I should've had some kind of idea when we walked in to only one table of two being there at 10:30am. All three of us had to repeat our orders to the cashier, several times, who seemed to be new as she didn't know the menu very well, so maybe she was also a little distracted? Well, all three orders she got wrong! But, we all stuck with what we had ordered for fear of it going wrong again. Our meals were so basic , unimaginative, bland and reminded me of a typical hospital cafeteria. In all, really bad choice for a meal but could be fun atmosphere for corporate party. Besides our party of three and the two before us there was one single woman that walked in as we were on the way out and she looked just as surprised as us when we walked in. So this is my first time eating here. When I entering the buliding the first thing I saw was the server. I say this is tge first time ordering here. He say just order by the window nothing else he told me. I have to set myself and my family down. Then we was order something from the lunch special then when order they say cant order lunch yet. The soda from the soda fountain was nasty and gross none drinkable. Food was not great as well and pay 40 dollers for this experience. Like the place tough but never agian...
