To start off, I would give 0 stars if i could.
Me and my family have been coming here for DECADES. We order minimum once a week, and tip minimum 20% each time, regardless of the fact that something is almost always missing.
Tonight we ordered a $100+ delivery (and paid over the phone) since my mother had surgery and we didn’t want to stress over dinner. What happened was an evening of stress and accusations of lying and stealing from the owner and staff.
We waited for almost 2 hours before phoning to ask when our food would be delivered to find out it had apparently been accepted at another house. I had to argue over the phone that it was not in fact delivered to us and we have a Ring doorbell camera to prove it. They then gave us options to make it right, and i chose to go pick the food up. Probably the worst mistake of the night was not just cancelling and getting a refund. The treatment me and my father received when we walked in was the worst I have EVER experienced. We were immediately accused of lying - where the owner and delivery driver showed pictures of our house he has gone BACK to and lied about delivering the food. We have a Ring camera as well as multiple other exterior house cameras that captured the supposed time the driver delivered the food. The only movement around that time (6pm) was me arriving home from work.
The driver said he delivered it to a man who didn’t tip - there’s only one man in the house, who did not receive the food and we tip above 20% almost always. I believe the driver messed up and delivered our order elsewhere, and they accepted since it was prepaid, and he didn’t want to admit to his mistake. There is absolutely no evidence the driver came to our house the first time on any camera - and it’s frankly very creepy he came back to our house just to take a picture to further his own lie. The driver also witnessed us pulling out of our house, and then where we parked at the pizzeria and asked about the make of the car to further the lie he had been to our home the first time, when he wouldn’t have even known that because that car is parked behind our house.
I understand foodservice is rough and mistakes happen, however this treatment was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. The owner Vinny practically yelled at me and my father, was very accusatory and aggressive and by the time we got our food I was so put off I didn’t want to eat it. And it’s a good thing I didn’t because I found a hair in the salad. (They also forgot the extra sauce and garlic knots...
Read moreMy husband has been a customer for over 30 years and I the past 15 years. Of course most of those years were the original owners. I rarely call and complain about food but I did so last Friday when I spent over 70$. The lg cheese pie was too big for the box so half the crust was folded over the one side of the pizza and burnt and the other half you could not even see the crust because of all the cheese slid off the pizza. It was a total mess. Also, half of the mozzarella sticks were burnt. I called and was told I'd have a credit for the pizza and mozzarella sticks next time I ordered. So a total credit of about 25$. I called tonight to place an order (4 days later) and the owner Vinny was rude, nasty and yelling at me. Said he was there and he knew it was only a credit for the mozzarella sticks. I have never ever been accused of lying by a business like this nor ever yelled at by someone at a business. We definitely aren't hurting for money and dont need to try to "get over" on a business like that. He acted as if whatever, he was going to just go ahead and make this right but I just calculated this and only a credit for the pizza was taken off my order tonight instead of a credit for the pizza and mozzarella sticks. Wow, maybe they are the ones hurting for money. Maybe that is why Vinny is so dang angry. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. I will NEVER spend another penny at Angela's again and neither will my husband. Sad that this place has been taken over by such an angry man and is making a business lose long standing customers that have supported this business as long as my husband and I have. We have given a lot of money to this business but no longer. What makes things even worse is, I lost my son not long ago and with holidays so close, I've really been having a really hard time and then I get side swiped being treated so horrible by this man who so happens to own this place now. Terrible. Should learn to be a little kinder Vinny, you never know what others are going through. You are a nasty man. I will...
Read moreI'm here now at Angelas to load up for the week and pickup pizza for a friend. If I'm lucky I can get here once every 2 months. Not being a local, coming to Angelas is a major treat, as I consider them to have the best pizza in NY. That's a big statement, but amazingly it's very true. There are great pizzerias in NY with amazing food, but Angelas is a 10 to be sure.
A regular plain slice is done to perfection, as is the Sicilian - or square. That's all I need. Good layer of cheese, very flavorful sauce, and a dense, big slice makes it a triple play on all counts. No complaints here. The Sicilian is perfect. Very dense and satisfying. It reheats and toasts well even after days in the fridge, just try it out. One truly gets their money's worth at Angelas, which today is difficult as some places are giving out Dorito sized slices with a spray paint of cheese.
There is quite a variety of pizza, which is difficult for me to sample as the regular slices are so good, but what I did try was excellent. Garlic knots are really good so I've heard. The variety looks like various chicken, pasta, marinara, grandma, and other slices which are very creative.
When you see the store from the outside, you know it's gonna be one of those neighborhood local go-to spots everyone knows about. The inside is small, and can get crowded, which happens alot.
Being a picky eater - no beef, fish, pork, etc, I'm reduced to few options, of which pizza is one. For this reason, I get around and haunt alot of pizzerias in NY and see who's got the best. Angelas is #1 on top in my humble opinion with a very satisfying pizza experience to be sure!
So I had two cheese slices that were so satisfying I'm buying more to take home! Sicilian as well no doubt. Very enjoyable when you realize just how much better a pizzeria can be than the rest. You have to take...
