Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Town of Islip

I don't have photos for this post because it was me and my 2 sons 7 and 18 and I said NO PHONES not even for the menu which by the way they try to push you to use the bar code on the table instead of handing you a menu but i did get a menu after I asked a second time. The menu they give you does not have a Childrens section you MUST scan the bar code for the FULL menu but I simply asked for a Childrens cheeseburger and the waiter took care of it. Now this was Sunday night around 7:30 and it was not busy at all and from sit down to menu it was at least a 15 min wait which was way to long. I was served knives, forks and 3 napkins after about 5min, maybe the waiter was new but he did seem overwhelmed so maybe. I ordered and apple martini but they did not have the ingredients to make it which I heard twice, once from the bartender who was telling my waiter what to say just 6-8ft away and from the waiter. I asked if they could make a pomegranate martini and the bartender who was still there came over and said he thinks he could he would check. Now my menu came and I saw a drink i wanted so I rushed to the bar and asked the bartender for that drink but he was trying to hand the pomegranate which he said he would see if could make but had already made it so i asked to try it and it was ok so I took it. Now i ordered a steak cooked medium and it arrived well done all the way thru. I notified the waiter and I was brought a new plate. The steak was cooked just how I asked but now the other items were not cared for. My dish also had shrimp and Parmesan but this time there was no fresh sliced Parmesan like the 1st serving and the mash was not dressed up like my 1st plate so I guess the chef decided presentation was not important anymore. My son had ordered a coke and only took 2 small sips when the menu came he also saw a drink he wanted. I told the waiter if he could swap the soda for the other drink and he said "no problem". When I got my bill the soda and the other drink was still there. Not the best experience at this location but I don't think my concerns were to demanding and I was very polite. A little more care for the customer next...

Supposedly our server had the busiest section of the night, but there were a lot of empty tables and he didn't seem harried, so 🤷? Frankly, if Marcus was being overworked with more tables than he could handle, that's on Applebee's management. Marcus declined to take our food order until after our drink order, brought out 1 water, then 1 soda, then finally 2 bar drinks simultaneously, though I saw him using a tray for efficiency later on. A number of times I tried asking him for something, but he was already gone. It happened so many times, I started laughing each time it happened. The sampler appetizer was left on the table the whole meal though the only thing left for most of it was just the chips, he never refilled it 2 waters so us 2 each went to the bar for a refill (though he did all 1x at the end ask if anyone needed anything). There were other little things which made it seem like he just wasn't trying, but this post is long enough. No hand towels in the restroom.

The roast rib dip (name?) sandwich was quite tasty. I also liked the Swiss mushroom burger and 1 companion liked the onion rings. French fries were bland...

WORST Applebee's I've ever been at. I brought my whole family to celebrate my wife's birthday thinking we were going to have a great time with some great food at a nice place. We came from a 1 hour trip, everyone was hungry and they had an "All you can eat" special for a "limited time" for $15,99. We all liked it since we haven't eaten anything. The first plate we ordered BBQ riblets with fries that came with just 3 riblets and some fries as the picture on the menu and we were all good with that since it was "endless " because we could order more. We finished and when I asked for more riblets they just sent one riblet and no fries!! + almost 20 minutes of waiting just for that one slice. I asked the lady if I could get the same as the first plate since it was endless and she said they can not serve that anymore. She was rude. I had to ask for more fries otherwise they won't give it to us. Very dirty seats with residues of food, dirty plates and HAIR ON YOUR DRINK!!!! Ken, the Manager came to just do nothing, he never wanted to apologize or help but he was just rude. This was on 06/29/25 between 7-8pm they need to get new...
