Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Service was terrible last night. Bartender was the rudest person I have ever been served by in my life. She walked over to us and just stared without saying anything. I stared back in disbelief as I have never met this young woman in my life and could not imagine what I did to her to deserve such a rude approach. I wanted to give her a pointer on how to provide adequate customer service which begins by properly introducing yourself and greeting the customer as I previously worked in food service/waitressing for almost 6 years. But I just did not have the patience to converse with her any further. Especially because after the next patrons sat, she nicely greeted them and asked their order - therefore she is clearly capable, she just decided she didnt want to greet US that way. I cannot assume what the issue is based in so I wont. However, there should not have been any issue at all. And there is more I could say about her as she broke clear and very serious rules while serving, but I have no interest in getting anyone fired. But all that to say, I'll be taking my service elsewhere from now on. This is not a very welcoming bar to watch games at. There are much better Applebee's bartenders nearby. If you want an enjoyable bar experience, this is not th Applebee's for you. **Side note: the food tasted great but presentation was not up to par. I understand this is just Applebee's but every restaurants' plating matters. So two stars are for the fact that the food...

I arrived at 9:52 pm. There was no host to greet us. I had to wait to be seated, dispite the resturant being relatively uncrowded.

Once seated, I waited another five minutes before being rendered any service. Again, the resturant was not crowded and the staff appeared to be unengaged.

When my waiter arrived, she was unwelcoming and impolite. I then realized that perhaps it is their poor service that reflected the relatively uncrowded resturant on a Saturday evening, dispite the fact that chillies had a wait list.

The food was served hot and quickly after order. My waiter almost failed to check in on us, but by the time she did it, I was ready to check out. I received no parting remarks from staff as I exited the establishment dispite them seeing me walk by.

The good thing I will credit the waitress with is that she did encourage me to wait 60 seconds before placing my order at 10 pm since I would have happy hour pricing. I really appreciated that.

That and the fact that the food was hot and quickly served after order was another positive. The resturant was also clean and relatively well maintained.

Overall, I would not return to this restaurant or encourage anyone to patronize it. Although there were a few bright spots during my visit, the overall experience was very subpar and unpleasant. It really has been a while since I felt like an unvalued customer at a dining establishment, despite ordering comfortably and leaving generous tips on...

SERVIVE WITH A SMILE!

Culture is miserable here. The place was maybe a 1/4 full on a sunday afternoon. We came in, waited at the counter for about 5 mins...no big deal. When the hostess came over it was if we were bothering her. She looked at her seating chart for what seemed to be an eternity. Led us to our seats. Tossed the menus on the table and turned and left. Said nothing all the while maintaining her RBF. We reviewed our menus and were then greeted by a smiling waitress within 10mins...I thought thank god someone not miserable. She took our order, brought the food out quickly. Food was good. We finished our meal. We then waited atleast 15 mins to see our waitress again. As I'm looking around to see if we can grab someone, I noticed most of the staff looked aggravated. I was able to grab her for the check and she then went into the back. I had my card ready for when she returned as I was not about to wait for her to come back in 15 mins again. As I was talking to one of my kids. She places the receipt on the table and leaves quickly. I was able to grab her a couple of tables away and give my card. She ran the card , came back placed it on the table and again said nothing and walked away.

This is a managerial issue. This many miserable people working when the business is actually slow is horrible. No worries though, judging by the crowd on what should usually be a busy time is an indication they probably wont be around to...
