Iām really disappointed because the food was delicious but this mistake could have been fatal for my 2 year old. ā¹ļø My good friend had a party in which she had food catered from Dang BBQ. I called and my friend called prior to the event to check on the food since my 2 year old is deathly allergic to sesame (a major allergen). I was assured that the food would be safe, that there was no chance sesame would be in any food. They said my son would be fine to eat the food. She also assured me that there would be a note put on the order which stated there is a severe sesame allergy. I felt safe allowing my toddler to eat it, which almost never happens. When the food was put out, I realized there was sesame seeds on all the buns. Thank god it was seeds and not sesame flour/oil so I could see it. My son didnāt eat it thank god, or we wouldāve ended up at the hospital or worse since my son nearly died the last time he was exposed to sesame. I called Dang BBQ afterwards and spoke to the owner and was told that it was the catering departments mishap because they donāt use seeded buns at the restaurant. Still, they should have been aware of the seriousness of anaphylactic food allergies and let me know there is a possibility of sesame being in the food. The owner also let me know that there could have been a mix up with the name on the order and thatās how this happened. Sesame is a major allergen, which needs to be taken seriously because it could lead to a fatal outcome for those with this allergy. Hopefully this mistake never happens again and Dang takes steps to ensure the safety of their food allergy customers. I feel itās my responsibility as a food allergy mom to put the information out there for other people who know the reality of having a serious allergy. Iām so grateful my son didnāt eat it, I was able to order door dash for him and he was fine. My friend was amazing at making us feel safe despite the risky situation my son was put in. Iām disappointed in the response from Dang after this happened, and am still shaken up. I will never trust another restaurant again after this incident. The owner did speak to me and I appreciate him taking the time to do so but he didnāt take responsibility when the restaurant was clearly part responsible since it was his staff who assured me the food...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was excited to try this place as milkshakes and bbq are two of my favorites things ever..lol
We went on a Saturday at 645 pm. The restaurant has about 14 tables, it's border line quaint. So first thing I notice is a table of 2 gets seated in a corner booth that can seat 6, while myself my wife my mother in law and our daughter are put at a table in the middle of the room, no complaints but odd since the tables are small.
Order shakes and they are delicious, off to a good start. Order food as shakes arrive, than the fun begins. We orders 2 hot dogs 1 sandwich and 1 salad.
Now in my 20s I worked in food service I don't mind waiting for food, kitchens can.jam up for all kinds of reasons. What both surprised and bothered me was the servers abject lack of caring, she didn't follow up once to pre bus the table which organ is crucial because they are tiny, my wife literally cleared our dishes and brought them to a service counter that was only after about 45 minutes to an hour that it took to get two hot dogs a sandwich and a salad. Now to be fair the sandwich I ordered might have been good when it was first prepared but you know how bread gets kind of hard when it sits under a heat lamp for at least 15 or 20 minutes that's what happened with my sandwich roll so I'm almost certain that it was either the hot dogs or the salad that stumped the kitchen and I really don't know what to make of that.
No one stopped by to say "hey sorry kitchens slow tonight food will be a while" "how was your food" "can I get you something else to drink" etc..
I'm one of those people who over tips every time I go out I was once even reprimanded for tipping someone who pumped our gas, so I'm very forgiving about most issues that come up in the restaurant but there is no excuse for inattentive service.
The farmageddon might have been good were anything other than the great hot, the salad was ok.
I think this is mostly because I had such high hopes for this place, but 65 dollars for 2 hot dogs a sandwich and a salad may be reasonable if anything else went right but it didn't.
I would probably return for the milkshake but I would get it to go and expect to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a mixed experience for my first time at Dang BBQ. While I'm willing to try them again, everyone has a rough day, could have been a bad day, maybe the virus was an issue too, there were several issues that I had with my order.
This order was my girlfriend and I, so we ordered a decent variety.
Both my Brisket and Pulled pork were very dry. Probably the driest BBQ that I've ever had. And I love BBQ, I travel to North Carolina and Kentucky for work and have had eaten at some top local joints.
The pulled pork was not pulled pork. I was served large roughly 2" long chunks of pork, there was a considerable amount of connective tissue in the meat and it was very unpleasant to eat.
The wings had great flavor, however they were soggy by the time we got them home. We were presented the option of grilled or fried wings, and I opted for fried. I feel like we were served grilled instead, it simply did not taste like it was fried.
The baked beans my girlfriend had ordered were great. Smoky, savory, sweet, and best of all, meaty with chunks noticeably throughout.
The chili had great flavor, however tasted watered down, I feel like it just fell short.
The sweet potato salad was disappointing, I had very little sweet potato actually in my side dish, it was mostly mayo and other ingredients.
We had mixed opinions on the cornbread. It wasn't to my liking, and found my piece to be very small and bland.
The best part about the meal was the end, my girlfriend had ordered a cinnamon bun milkshake. Unfortunately they forgot it in our order and we noticed half way home after picking it up. Until now, In and Out Burger had the best shake I've ever had in my life, but this takes the cake, or rather, cinnamon bun.
If I had to review Dang BBQ based on the shake alone this would be 6/5 stars, however I cannot overlook my disappointment with the other items.
Again, maybe we went on a bad day, maybe turn over wasn't very high and some standards slipped. This place seems to have mostly good reviews, sadly my experience didn't live up to the expectation. And for an $75 meal for two people, I think it will be a while...
