I had read the many reviews, and as a resident in the past of Long Island; Campbell's bakery has been around for many years. However I should have followed my gut instinct and not bother with them from the first day that I was there. The customer service is not a good one, I am not sure if it's the language barrier but even if customers speaks to them in Spanish for some reason they manage to get the orders wrong. I went to order a Dominican cake, which is a delicious cake when made the RIGHT WAY, it involves meringue and and filling of either Guava or Pineapple, made with a lot of butter which gives it a taste that no one can ever mistake. However the day that we made the order we had to tell the male customer attendant, we had to tell him THREE DIFFERENT TIMES WE WANTED GUAVA AS A FILLING AND ASKED IF THEY MADE THE CAKE DOMINICAN STYLE AS ADVERTISE EVERYWHERE IN THEIR WEBSITE AND ALSO AT THE BAKERY; HE STATED THAT THEY DID. the cake was suppose to be for 60 guests, he said that if anything would change to please call him 2 days before and let them know. On March 16th I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH the baker and explained that I needed the cake early on Sunday march 18th, she asked what time told her no later than 10 am; she said no problem. Called Sunday morning and asked again if the cake would be ready by 10 they said yes no problem. Got there on Sunday young attendant went to the back and had me waiting for about 15 minutes asked if everything was OK she said yes that they're still decorating.. How is it possible that a cake that is supposed to be ready not finished being decorated ? had to wait until 10:45 for the cake to be "finished" yes the cake looked gorgeous . Now lets move forward and the cake is served at my daughters baby shower and guess what? no filling, not a delicate Dominican Cake but a regular yellow sheet cake which was hard and it was just gross, NOT ONE PERSON ATE THE CAKE, IT WAS BEING SERVED TO A DOMINICAN FAMILY who were polite and said who in the world create such farce? I called the bakery they tell me that no manager is there to go the following day; which I did. this morning I went and again they made me wait half an hour before they could get the manager, she bring the baker with her, and they tell me that they " KNOW IS NOT DOMINICAN CAKE BUT THEIR VERSION OF IT" who does that? why advertise on something you obviously cannot make or know how, then they tell me that the order I made had no where that to place a filling , when 3 people saw it being written the day that it was originally ordered. They now tell me that the owner has to be notified to comeback another day, well let me tell you Campbell's bakery you need to go back to what you were was was a reputable bakery with good cakes and STOP FALSE ADVERTISING, IT IS A DISGRACE, TODAY AS I WAS MAKING THE COMPLAIN ANOTHER LADY WAS THERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE CAKE SHE HAD ORDER WAS ALSO MADE INCORRECTLY. SO AGAIN CAMPBELL'S BAKERY GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND GO BACK TO BEING A GOOD BAKERY. STOP...
Read moreOn Nov 16th I ordered a cake for pick up the next day. I was charged for 7" cake & 6 cupcakes a total of $82. Then on Nov 24th I placed another same order and they tried to charge me $96. I asked why is it a different price this week from last week. Incompetent staff member CLAUDIA tried to make up bogus excuses that made no sense first saying that's it's because I want a photo on the cake , I told the week before that order too had a photo. When I asked to speak to the so called manager who is a Asian female, come to find out she was the one who took my order the week before & didn't want to show her face. After me calling them out on their scam, manager said to charge me $84. I paid it and gave instructions on the photo for the cake that the top & bottom words are supposed to be cut of that we don't want it on the cake. She assured us multiple times it won't be on the cake & that the photo would be zoomed in to be big to fit in the center of the cake. When I picked it up yesterday (Nov 17 ) the cake looked HORRIBLE, they put words in they were supposed to be cut off & the center photo was very small. On top of that I put the cake on car floor like staff lady suggested & it still shifted the cake, the cake slides on that white fabric that they use for the base. The red color Happy birthday was smudged off. The cake was supposed to be a light gray not a dark dookie looking green. CLAUDIA SUCKS AT TAKING ORDERS & HAD AN ATTITUDE AFTER I CALLED HER OUT ON HER TRYING TO CHARGE ME EXTRA. I want a Refund & will NEVER GO BACK. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, STAY AWAY.... SAVE URSELF THE HEADACHE & $ AND GO TO COSTCO OR BJ'S TO GET A BIGGER LONG SHEET CAKE THAT COST AROUND $20-$30 WAY CHEAPER THAN SCAMMING...
Read moreI honestly cannot share my experience with how the cakes taste because I was never granted the opportunity. I booked a cake tasting for my wedding via email with Angela a week prior to pick up. I called and confirmed the morning of pick up, which was a hectic call to begin with because the person answering the phone had no idea what was going on. I asked to add an additional slice to my tasting (the tres leche), which they said would be no problem. I drove from Queens to Brentwood, stood on a line for 20 minutes and then when I finally made it to the counter, they handed me a box with only a slice of tres leche. I explained I was there to pick up my entire scheduled order and showed them my emails with Angela. They appeared confused and it turned out they could not find my order anywhere. I stood at the counter for another 30 minutes with NO communication at all, no explanation, just waiting. After driving an hour, waiting on line for 20 minutes and then waiting around for more than 30 minutes with no idea what was happening, no communication or explanation - I finally decided to turn around and leave as I realized I would NEVER trust this bakery to deliver on my actual wedding day. I emailed Angela after I left, explaining the situation and sharing that I was disappointed in the experience and upset that this was my experience for a cake tasting that was supposed to be a fun wedding event for my fiancé and I. It is a week later and I never got an email back from the bakery. Brides, please be mindful of this experience when planning for one of the biggest events in your life. We all know the stress of wedding planning and cake tasting and deliverance on your wedding day shouldn’t be...
