The doughnuts were tasty, the service was lackluster.
Located in the heart of Main st. Bay Shore, parking could be difficult. Limited street parking which is metered. There is a lot behind Tullulah's restaurant down the side street which should have spots available (which is also metered).
Inside, the shop is so cute and very clean.
The prices are part of the reason I'm taking a star off. I just can't see paying $4 a doughnut as a usual thing. It's very expensive for a dozen. Almost $40 quite high. Yes, the doughnuts are packed with cream/jelly etc., but it's still costly.
You're also at mercy of the place. The flavors depend on what they make that day. There is never a 100% guarantee that the doughnut you like will be made that day. They also could sell out.
The service wasn't very friendly. I felt that for the amount I'm paying, the service should have been better.
The doughnuts were very fresh. I tried a Linzer Tart, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Boston Cream, Caramel Crumb, and Kettle Corn. My favorites were the chocolate fudge & linzer tart. All of the doughnuts were tasty. The Boston Cream was huge and filled with so much cream!
Overall, the doughnuts were delicious but the prices and service were...
Read moreI have been craving a great donut for weeks but there is nothing better by me than mediocre options. Today I took the drive to Bay Shore because the pictures from North Fork Doughnut Co. looked amazing and let me tell y'all, I was not disappointed. First of all this place is so cool. They have this giant wooden walkman on the wall complete with giant headphones. It is super clean and has a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. I was immediately greeted by a kind man with the sweetest smile but what was even sweeter were the donuts on display. They are literal works of art. There were several different types to choose from but not so many that it was hard to decide. I purchased 4 types: Churro, Maple Bacon, Blueberry Pie, and a custom type that was left over from a customer order-Guava Mango. These donuts are incredible. A little pricey at about $21 for the 4, but it is well worth it. Each donut is gigantic, easy to share or will certainly fill you up by yourself. These delicious donuts are made with a lot of love. Those mass produced donuts from your drive through coffee shop don't even begin to compare. Thank you North Fork Doughnut Co! I can't wait to visit again and try more of your yummy...
Read morebright, vibrant, hip atmosphere with friendly staff. I love the donut themed decoration. it's fun and inviting.
now onto the main attraction: the donuts. they had a good variety of donuts when I arrived and some very appetizing flavors. after much debate, I opted for oatmeal cookie, cookies and cream, earl grey, black raspberry filled and the OG glazed.
the black raspberry filled was surprisingly good and delightfully messy. the filling-to-dough ratio is high, so the sweet/tart compote oozed out with one bite. there were good bits of fruit though I could have stood just a bit more solids. still very good.
the earl grey was tasty. the tea flavor was subtle but present and the icing wasn't overly sweet. the cookies and cream was much what I expected. the oatmeal cookie, although good, was disappointing in that the oatmeal flavor was over powered by the icing. maybe less icing or more intense flavor in the cookie bits.
lastly, the OG glazed was simply delicious. a good glaze over a soft, fluffy doughnut.
as I recall, there were no cake doughnuts. so if that's your preference you may be out of luck. but check ahead because their offerings change about...
