We have patrons Fritsches Bakery since the mid-50’s ( Not counting the time they were closed ) and always enjoyed their deserts. My husband and I went on Sunday (4-24-24) to purchase assorted cookies for a family gathering. The cookies were fresh, moist and absolutely delicious and the lady that waited on us was friendly and happy to help us. Today (4-18-24) my hubby and I stopped by to give ourselves a treat for breakfast, he wanted rolls and I wanted Tea-Biscuits. There were no other customers inside the bakery and I quickly ordered the 2 Tea Biscuits I wanted, I like them very light in color and the woman behind the counter grabbed one then picked out one that was her choice not mine, I said I didn’t want that one but she never offered to replace the biscuit with the one I wanted. My husband ordered his rolls and he too likes them light in color, he only wanted 3 and as he is trying to pick the ones he wanted she would grab one and place it in the bag before he could even tell her which one he wanted. When he said he wanted the lighter roll she very rudely said, “ You have to tell me that before I take them” then she rolled her eyes in annoyance. This might seem a silly issue to complain about but as Seniors and people who treat any and all employees with respect and kindness I just found it so rude of her to act that way and since the Bakery was empty and there was no need to rush us out or at least be pleasant if she needed to do something else. It costs nothing to be nice to your customers or at least if we were being to “picky” she shouldn’t have rolled her eyes at my husband. Thanks...
Read moreThis is a tiny bakery that you may miss as you drive by. Even the inside is deceiving. Although, IT IS Actually NOT A SMALL BAKERY! The back area where the bakers are is probably 5x's plus Larger Than the bakery itself-where they display the items behind the glass. It's like a little hidden delicious shop. This past Sunday, we arrived at closing time and there were still fresh items to pick up for two different parties that we were going to. The owner is a very hard working person, They all are. I wish I took pictures of the items we purchased. One round bundt chocolate chip cake, Very simple with crumbs on top. That one went over very well at the party!! I also enjoyed it a lot. Then there were angel or elephant ears?? A Large Crispy dessert, must have an Italian name for them.. We got 3, One was partially dipped in dark chocolate. I was ready to dish out over $30. I don't know if it's because it was closing time, I don't believe so, but I'm pretty sure that all those items came out to $21. That's insane. I love Alpine bakery in Smithtown but had I gotten the same items there, it would have been over $30.!!! This bakery is in the beautiful town of Sayville. Maybe a hidden gem or maybe people in the town know about them. It was very impressive. We are definitely going back there! Thank you to the owner/owners who work so hard. Even at closing time, everything we bought...
Read moreI go to Fritzes almost every week. 1 week I bought two napoleons (I buy them a lot!) but this time the were chewy and mushy, obviously not fresh. I went in the following week and told them about my experience and they offered no apologies... Just raved about how fresh their goods are. ok... went in two weeks later and wanted to buy 3 more napoleons. I requested the ones in the back of the tray, (they just slide the tray out mind you)but they refused and said can only sell the ones in the front. I reminded them of my past experience and they INSISTED they are all made at the same time. So.... I said ok, well it shouldn't matter which ones you sell me if they made at the same time. NOPE... they won't sell me the ones in the back (there's only 6 napoleons in their tray). They refused to sell me unless I took the ones in front. Am I missing something? I walked out without purchasing anything and they didn't care Needless to say, won't be going back any more. Terrible customer service... lied to me... Keep old pastries in...
