Really wanted some clams on the half shell.
And I really wanted to have them at a clam bar near the water with an open air but yet in shaded cool atmosphere.
This is exactly that. I looked at several places on the North shore the South shore in the area and I remembered this place and I forgot how wonderful it really is until I got there. Pictures just don't do it justice. So I took a whole bunch.
Haven't been hearing about 10 to 15 years something like that. I don't remember being so quaint and right on the water with the little overhang to shade you outdoors.
Even the indoor seating feels outdoor. Like one giant covered deck.
They even have picnic tables way out on the dock that you don't even realize they're theirs. Until you see the waiters and waitresses going out to help people and the hostess seating them.
They also have a bulkhead right there where boats pull up and can go inside and or just stop for to grab some drinks to go. Which a boat did it.
I mean this is the perfect seaside location hidden away. I can't wait to go back.
I had the most wonderful little seat by myself all the way in the corner with a cushion. Where I could overlook the restaurant the boats the view everything.
I had the most delicious half dozen clams on the half shell and I was planning to go to another place to have another half dozen but it was so lovely and so perfect exactly what I wanted and search for. That I stayed to have a bucket of steamers. And I'm glad I did I forgot how much I love those things. Oh wow just get the steamers if you love steamers sit and enjoy the view.
I really didn't look at anything else they had on the menu but I know that several people were having steam lobsters. Which you know next time if I can get past the steamers. What a great little place this is I think slept on too much. Lunch on a Saturday seems to be the time to go I mean it was perfect 80° summer day I can't believe it wasn't more crowded.
Some people wrote up on their bicycles. From the neighborhood some people had kick scooters electric scooters. It's just a really lovely spot.
I seriously cannot wait to go back.
Really felt more like I was on fire Island that Flynn's or something. It's that kind of vibe. If you love seafood this is highly recommended.
It's not high ends going to get silverware and plates type service. It's got disposable cups and plastic forks and paper everything but it's that seaside divey yet wonderful food simple seafood cuisine this is the place for you.
The staff was lovely. The hostess and the waitress both were patient and attentive as I told some stories to them and I really appreciate it.
Yeah I'm going to say it again I can't wait...
Read moreA gem at the end of a lane..okay a road that leads to the bay. I grew up in West Sayville and many things have changed. This restaurant is one of the most pleasant additions to the friendliest town on Long Island. I joined the Navy in '78, the year this restaurant was established and had moved to Ronkonkoma seven years prior to its genesis. Kingston's Clam Bar is casual with delicious fare, but beware: the food is overpriced. Tourists and aging yuppies with floating yachts and oversized dinghies keep the food production on an even keel and this venue in business. Lands End was my family's go-to when growing up. Kingston's is not in their class and cannot or will not remain open year-round. Locals like me don't like seasonal food barons, therefore there is no loyal following from the neighborhood except from the Buffy and Jody Trust Funders living in "Yachtsville", floating next to their front door. Update: It is COVID season so bear in mind that you are allowed to contract the disease on the patio. Suffolk County forbids you to be infected indoors. Figure out how to wear a mask and assimilate food simultaneously. Very difficult indeed. Good luck with trying to maintain a six foot demarcation zone. For me, I will take mine to go and live another twenty years. Bon...
Read moreWe were there for dinner around 6pm on a summer Tuesday night. Should be packed, right? We got a table right away………
Food: Oysters were sweet and delicious but why were they from Virginia? We are literally in Blue Point, Long Island.
Also, Blue Island Oysters is right next door? There is a story there I am sure.
Shrimp roll was skimpy…too much bun. Flavor was good(give your guests more shrimp two more pieces at most and it would be worth the price).
New England Clam Chowder was not cooked properly. It was not creamy, the whole soup separated and my husband and I could not finish it. The flavor was great so please do better.
Fried calamari was tender and tasty. My 14 year old said it was too greasy. Marinara was delicious and clearly house made. Bravo!
