Mama's Brick Oven Pizzeria — Restaurant in Town of Islip

In my previous review and experiences, this pizzeria has for the most part been a top notch spot to get pizza. Over the years, they have dwindled down from quality. Most recently a couple months ago (the last time I ever got any pizza there), the experience was poor. Not so much the people, but the food was garbage. It was undercooked pizza and on top of that, they did not do a good job at cutting the pie. I was not in a rush and they were not busy at all. It was a sad representation of what pizza should be. Here and there, they've had their hits and misses, but the pizza for the most part was decent or good. It's just gradually went down in quality and this was the final straw for me. I reached out to them on their website and gave the feedback regarding my issue. I selected the option to reach me via email. I received nothing in return. Not even the phone call option. Why even bother giving the option to reach me if you do not plan to reach me? It was a valid situation that required some form of contact to reach out to me about my poor experience/poor quality of food. This chain has completely lost it and it's disappointing to see it transpire this way. I am not coming back...

This place has changed names and or ownership a few times over the years and used to be great. It's still one of my regular go-to places, whether for a quick slice of pizza or for something in the dining room, but recently it's been a little inconsistent. The last time I went in for a quick slice of pizza, the dough was undercooked. Not a big deal, it was just pizza, it can happen, especially since it was Sicilian pizza. The dining room food is usually above average though for this price range, and the decor and ambiance are really nice. Nothing extravagant, it just looks like the kind of place you'd see in Italy, soft colors, fresh linen on the tables, and Italian background music, which is one of the things I like in a place like this. I can listen to that other music any time, so I'm glad they switched back to playing Italian music after a period of playing other music. One thing that has never changed here is the staff, no matter who's been running or owned the place, the staff are always super-friendly, from the cooks to the servers and after many years of frequenting this place I can't say I've ever had a bad...

The food here is great. But that’s not what I wanna write about. The accommodating nature of every single person that works here does not go unnoticed. I recently started taking my toddler out on “date nights” To get him used to going out to restaurants. Even though he is a well behaved kid, I can understand that having young children in a restaurant is never fun for the employees. However, everyone, and I mean everyone, who works there always reassure me that it’s no problem. My stress level immediately goes down and I can enjoy my time with my son. You have no idea just how much that means to this mama. Further, every time I order delivery, the delivery person will go out of their way to keep me informed and updated on delivery times and They never have a problem bringing my delivery to the door. I know that might sound weird, but our current living situation isn’t the most easily accessible, and again, They don’t be an eye about it and make me feel that much less stress. I am so so thankful. This restaurant truly cares about its customers. I will forever go to them...
