Waiting in line is normal for Shake Shack. Hearing someone yell from the back to the cashier I was ordering a milkshake from NO SHAKES and then I asked if frozen custard was available to which the same raspy voice replied NO SHAKES NO CUSTARD we are short staffed was different and disappointing. So, as a side note, I love frozen custard, and my family that I love also loves frozen custard. Where we live in Central New york, we travel 30 minutes in the summer just to indulge our tastebuds and enjoy the smooth texture of frozen custard. There is nothing wrong with soft serve ice cream, but once you've experienced the difference, you'll know what I'm talking about. Try to taste both soft serve and frozen custard with your family on a hot summer day. See who likes what, you may be surprised. How each other think about this treat and what they like most about it. With that being said, Shake Shack custard is amazing just as their food is great as well for fast food. We loved their chicken sandwich also their cheesy fries (especially the krinkle fry aspect), and their regular burger. The wait in line was longer than the wait for food, and the cashier was polite...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is great. But it is not cheap, not fast and there's not much room. This new rest area is like less than half the size of the old one. There is literally just enough room to walk past someone. If you only order a shake, the time is pretty quick(assuming you manage to get there at a time when it's not busy. Which as of Spring of 2023 it appears to be the only rest area open for about 100 miles or so west of Syracuse. Anything other than shakes though takes time. I've gotten there with no one else in line and only order a single hot dog and it's close to a ten minute wait. And it's over $12 for a dog and a shake. That said, the food itself is definitely good. I've never tried eating there but given the small size of the rest area and limited seating I cant imagine enjoying eating there by myself let alone with my kids squeezed in somewhere with people constantly right up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first experience with a Shake Shack and it was in a travel center on the NYS thruway (I-90). As such, I'm not sure it would apply to a stand alone Shake Shack. First, the ordering experience. There were two kiosks and one "old fashioned" register. We fumbled our way through the kiosk and noticed everything was "a la carte." No meal deals that we found. Everything was VERY expensive. We ordered two basic burgers, two drinks, and two fries. I did upgrade to the cheese fries, and the total was almost $40. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, just very over priced. My cheese cup (for the fries) tasted good, but it did congeal quickly. Seating at the travel center was very limited, but that's not Shake Shack's call. I'd try Shake Shack again, but at a stand alone, not at a...
