I learned something interesting this afternoon that I thought was well worth sharing. The next time you purchase something and cannot locate the receipt, do what I learned to do this afternoon. Take a photograph of the receipt with your cell phone.
About a month ago we visited the outlets and realized that Liam has grown more than anticipated and his outfit was too small. While shopping at Polo today we explained that of course we didn't know where our receipt was. We explained that we were there just before Labor Day and were hoping for an exchange or store credit.
As it turns out, the scam as often perpetrated by retailers, then came into play. They told me that of course they couldn't give me what I paid for it since I didn't have my receipt, but that they could give me what their lowest price was, lowered yesterday from $39 to $19. I explained that we were asked for our information during our last trip in case we lost our receipt and conveniently there was no record of our purchases that day, in their computer system. Conveniently my name and address were in their computer files, but no purchases were recorded that day. I explained that I have the charge on my phone, from the credit card company and of course they wouldn't take that either.
Just an FYI, don't bother to give them your information, as they are trained by corporate boardroom execs to lie to you, they only want your personal data, not as a customer service thing, but to harass you with coupons, or to sell your information via data mining.
If you have the receipt on your phone they have to honor what you paid for it, that is unless you lose your phone. Now you can beat them at their own game, b/c you know, EVERY shopper that I know try's to scam the retailer by purchasing every item on sale, then attempts to return it...
Read morePolo Ralph Lauren has always been our go-to when visiting the outlet, but this recent experience left us deeply disappointed after an encounter with a blatantly discriminatory employee (middle-aged white male).
From the start, we were not greeted upon entering. While my husband and another customer (white male) were trying on clothes at the same time, this employee approached the other man to direct him to a fitting room—completely ignoring us.
The situation escalated at checkout. Despite us clearly waiting at the register, this same employee deliberately called over the white customers to pay first, disregarding our presence entirely.
We have shopped in luxury stores both in the U.S. and abroad and have never experienced this kind of disrespect or racial bias. The irony is, this isn’t even a luxury establishment—yet the discriminatory treatment we faced was appalling.
I am utterly disgusted by the racism we experienced in this store and will be taking my business elsewhere.
On a positive note, I want to commend the Asian employee who has consistently been kind, professional, and welcoming...
Read moreSo disappointed, I shop polo almost religiously. Walked in and wasn't greeted, no biggy maybe they was busy. Nope the 4 employees where sitting around having conversations with each other while the 6 people in the store browsed. Ten minutes in and someone else walked was greeted. Ok maybe I just didn't hear. Continued shopping, I hear "have a good night" to the same greeted customer leaving. I walked right passed the same associate, looking into his eyes as I exited and nothing. Not a "good-night ", not a smile, not any acknowledgement that I was even in the store.....nothing. I will never go back to this location again and I suggest others don't if this is the level of service they...
