I’m not sure what really happened here tonight if we were part of some crazy new dining experience I wasn’t aware of or what..... we made a reservation for 7pm for 7 people. Upon arrival our group was asked to wait in the bar until everyone arrive which is perfectly fine and understandable. We notified the staff upon our whole party arriving and they still told us to wait. After tracking down someone again we were shown to our seats. None of us had been to this place before and we thought restaurant week would be a great opportunity to step outside the box. Which was quite the mistake. While the waiter was kind and considerate and none of what is to follow is on him so thank you James for being one of the only redeeming qualities of the night! While poor James is trying to take our drink order a lady who is running food is interrupting him constantly .... after two tries our 4 beverages (the others had drinks from the bar still) we order and delivered approx. 10 minutes later. Again we tried to order dinner but the same lady kept coming to tell this young waiter he was needed in the kitchen and asking him questions while he tried to take our order. Which kind of was a task in itself because of the loud booming of pop hits you could hear clearly as if you were at a dance club from the sweet 16 party upstairs. The first course finally arrived and some plates better than others but very inconsistent for those that had got the same item. The sushi that we ordered to accompany our first course was however fantastic! The second course came at various times for the 7 of us and we had to ask for one of our parties food as it had been forgotten. They were accommodating to switch out the Brussel sprouts that arrived with meat on them for our friend who cannot eat meat but only after there was a disagreement about if it was meat or not ... which turned out to be some sort of dried meat like pepperoni or salami. And then we wait.... and wait .... and wait ... and wait.... approximately an hour goes by and we finally receive our last course, thank god my friends are hilarious or I would have been bored out of my mind. And the waiter did bring us bread when we asked if there was something we could have during the wait.... however upon arrival the lamb dishes that were ordered were extremely rare like fresh out of the fridge rare. Before someone says that you’re supposed to eat your lamb that way believe me I understand but it was like it was straight out of the fridge rare. They did refire the meals but at that point we just wanted to go after being there for over 2.5 hours enough was enough. At one point at the end of our meal a older gentleman which I would assume to be the owner came over and I expected him to ask how our meal was or to apologize for the delays or the extra rare lamb but he simply asked if we needed more beverages and moved along quickly when we said no thank you. We did ask James if this was normal for this restaurant and his response had to do with the private party upstairs and the number of dishes the kitchen staff was responsible for. While I can understand that but if you’re going to participate in these kind of events I would at least perform a menu that my kitchen could execute flawlessly if not for the sake of the diner to have a great experience but at least for the kitchen staff not to be so bogged down. All and all the sushi was good, James the waiter was a good sport and the company was fantastic but next time we venture out to B’ville I think we’ll skip...
Read moreI came here a few weeks ago for the first time to have a nice dinner date with my boyfriend. We had the groupon deal and followed the instructions, which said for us to make a reservation and mention the groupon. When we arrived, there weren’t many customers or workers… it seemed like a slow night. So once the man came over & asked us if we had a reservation and we said yes, we took a seat on the couches and waited. When the man finally came back, he looked confused as to why we were sitting there. So again, I gave my name & told him we had a reservation.
The man took us to our seat, which was located on the patio. We were not asked if we wanted a patio seat, which we did not.. but it was our first time here and we weren’t sure if that was the only available seating, so we didn’t say anything. The patio had potential to look very nice & fancy, but it fell short, and considering the prices on the menu, I expected more. But we remained excited for our dinner date.
The patio held about 7 tables and everyone had a nice looking table & chairs except for us. All the other guests had nice, black cloth table covers & nice chairs. Our table on the other hand, had metal chairs that looked and felt like bleachers at a high school football stadium. And our table cover was plastic-like, it was super oversized for the size table we had, which was unbelievably small and we had absolutely no room. Upon a further look, I noticed it had small dead bugs all over it… like it was stuffed away in a garage somewhere and they just pulled it out and didn’t bother to wash it. We felt like since we were “groupon” customers, they didn’t think we were worthy enough for a clean table.
But still, we remained hopeful. Then our waiter came out.. who seemed uninterested to take our order & looked like he was focusing on other things, rather than our table. At one point, he even talked badly about a co-worker, and used the “F” word. I found that very uncomfortable and unprofessional. When I gave him my order, he gave me a look and began to explain what it was that I was ordering, like I was unaware. I was fully aware of what I was ordering and confused as to why he was elaborating on what the dish was, like I was supposed to change my order.
When the food arrived, both of our dishes were just okay and certainly not worth the menu price for them. Additionally, the overall service was extremely slow. Our waiter was being helpful to all of the other guests around us, but we had to wait an hour for our main course. When we requested the check, that took another 25 mins to arrive, which they added on the gratuity automatically & It was a more generous tip than I would’ve given for the service . And meanwhile, the sun began to go down and the mosquitos were unbelievable. I know they can’t control their mosquitos, but perhaps some repellant candles outside would have been nice, or they could’ve asked us if we even wanted to sit outside, because we would’ve said no.
Overall, the experience was quite unfavorable and I would never go here again & would certainly not recommend it to others. If you have the groupon, I would suggest not telling them on the reservation that you have it, since you will be treated differently than their...
Read moreMy wife and I signed up for a murder mystery dinner that was overbooked. That’s not on Mohegan Manor but they do share some issues that they could’ve made a little effort to remedy. We had bought a bottle of wine to go with our dinner and had purchased our meals for the event. The bartender was excellent but horribly overworked. He managed to keep up as best as he could, but for 80+ people they should’ve had two behind the bar.
When it became evident that they didn’t have enough seats for everyone, the waitresses were empathetic. Not much they could do at that point. After waiting around for 15-20 minutes for a solution we decided to go down to the first floor to see if they had a dining room open. Mind you, we had previously purchased our meals. When asking a man I assumed to be the manager if there was somewhere else we could sit and eat, he denied our request despite many tables available in the empty bar area. No offer to at least feed us the meal we purchased. No offer to comp the wine - just a voucher to attend a comedy show at a later date (which he was already offering to anyone who tagged Mohegan Manor on Facebook). We left hungry and unimpressed with the place
Follow up: the comments made by Mohegan Manor regarding the situation are falsely misleading. We were shown our table, found to not have any seats for us, the organizer was perplexed and couldn’t understand how she could’ve assigned 10 people to an 8 seat table. She first grilled the other people at the table asking their names and party size multiple times, and then made a fleeting comment of “hold on” and left to start processing other customers while we embarrassingly stood in the middle of the room right next to the cheesy “chalk murder outline” on the floor. We were not asked for our patience and no apologies were made- we were treated discourteously and ignored. I stated to my wife “let’s stand off to the side for now”. One of the servers commented on how poorly we were treated and how disorganized the event seemed to be. After waiting 15-20 minutes of be left off to the side while she was seating other people, I asked one of the servers if there is a restaurant or someplace in the building where we could go to eat and she mentioned something about areas both upstairs and downstairs. We were NEVER offered a small table or any other accommodation. We walked back to the bar to settle up the bill for our bottle with whom I thought was the manager. His solution was to shove a couple tickets to another event he was having. Not likely. I understand that it wasn’t his event, but it was his facility and he could’ve certainly showed more concern and had the resources to help remedy the situation. His apathy sealed the deal. Amusingly, our server at the restaurant we ate at later had a similar story of poor service at...
