Cottage Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Lysander

I keep forgetting the Cottage Restaurant! Its location is so good, (nestled in the middle of the village, yet out of sight) we forget how darn good the place is. I've been there twice in the last week and both times the food and service was excellant! I love a good burger and fries and they were both fantastic.(and very affordable) The atmosphere is absolutly unique as there is no place like it. The brick and natural wood are very welcoming and comforting. Probably because of this, the acoustics are wonderful and lend themselves to being able to have a nice conversation. (Never too noisy) The owner, Michele is such a nice and down to earth person, you always feel welcome and at home. She is always there and on top of things whether she is cooking, serving, greeting or just visiting. It's always a good sign when the owner is so invested. Finally, there is always parking available. I am sticking a "post a note" on my dash that says "REMEMBER THE COTTAGE". I love it there and I am going to make it my "go to". It's close and...

I hate writing bad reviews but, this restaurant needs to get one. My wife and I wanted to try a new breakfast restaurant/diner, so we tried this one. The service and waitress were ok. Coffee and tea were ok. We both had the same meal. Eggs over easy, homefries, and sausage link. The food came out late, meaning, others were getting their food before ours and they ordered after ours. We eat at a lot diners and I never seen so little of a portion of homefries as they gave us. Probably no more then a cup of homefries. Also, the sausage links were frozen Brown and Serve you buy at any store in the frozen section. There was older couple across from us and he had pancakes. Without going to details, his pancakes were raw in the middle. I know he told the waitress and he didn't want a remake of pancakes. I would have done the same thing. WE HAVE BEEN COMING TO YOUR RESTAURANT FOR MANY YEARS. GREAT FOOD AND TIMELY SERVICE. NOT ON 4/24/2016. WE WAITED FOR 45 MINUTES. TILL WE HEARD NEW CUSTOMERS WERE TOLD THEY WOULD HAVE A 30 MINUTE WAIT. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT ADDITIONAL 10-15 MINUTES. WE CANCELED OUR ORDER. I WISH WE WERE TOLD SOONER. IF WE NEW OF THIS DELAY, AS WERE THE OTHER CUSTOMERS, WE COULD MAKE THE CHOICE OF STAYING. IN FACT THE WAITRESS, WHEN WE GOT THERE SAID SERVICE WOULD BE TIMELY. I GUESS THAT WOULD BE A QUESTION TO ASK THE WAITRESS WHEN WE FIRST THERE, WHEN WE KNOW YOU ARE BUSY. AND I GUESS IT IS THE CUSTOMER SHOULD CHECK BACK AFTER 15 MIN. A NICE SUNDAY MEAL WAS MADE A TIME FOR US THAT MADE US FOR LOSING TIME FOR ALL THE THINGS WE HAVE PLANNED. WE STILL WANT TO GO YOUR RESTAURANT BUT WE HAVE LEARNED A GREAT LESSON.
