Review for Pelligrino Imports, Malta, NY
If you're looking for exceptional catering with authentic Italian flair, look no further than Pelligrino Imports of Malta, NY. Owners Steven and Carmella Ferrotti truly outdid themselves when they catered my wife’s 60th birthday party for 25 people at my in-law’s home in Danbury, CT.
The Ferrotti’s prepared an outstanding array of dishes, including Italian sausage and meatballs, Lemon Chicken, Lasagna, Eggplant, Chicken Cutlet Parmigiana, and a full tray of Italian salad with dinner rolls. Every item was pre-cooked with incredible care and packaged meticulously to endure the two-hour drive from Saratoga Springs to Danbury. They even included detailed, easy-to-follow instructions for reheating or final cooking where needed, ensuring everything tasted freshly made.
The food was nothing short of spectacular, impressing every guest, including the guest of honor. From the perfectly seasoned sausage and meatballs to the creamy, flavorful lasagna, each dish captured the rich, traditional tastes of Italian cuisine. The Lemon Chicken was a standout, with a zesty brightness that complemented the other hearty dishes. The salad was fresh and vibrant, providing the perfect balance to the meal.
Beyond the food, Pelligrino’s customer service was impeccable. Steven and Carmella went above and beyond to make this event unforgettable. Their attention to detail, reasonable pricing, and genuine care for their customers made this experience truly special.
I cannot recommend Pelligrino Imports enough—whether you’re stopping by for their daily Italian and American lunch menu or planning a significant event, you’ll receive top-notch food and service. Steven and Carmella Ferrotti turned my wife’s milestone birthday into a lifelong cherished memory....

Surprised I never reviewed Pellegrino before, as I know I've been here in the past, but that just gives me all that better the excuse to come back.
Ordered over the phone ahead of time, going with two footlong subs, one hot and one cold. The Chicken Cutlet Parm and a Honey Maple Turkey with Smoked Gouda and Honey Mustard. Only coming to a bit over $25, which for the sheer heft of these torpedos is more than acceptable.
Both were wrapped up nice and snug, meaning when I got home the hot sub was still warm and the cold sub was still chilled. The chicken cutlet was simply amazing, so simple, and the first sandwich to be devoured. Soft but not soggy Italian bread, tender and savory breaded chicken, tangy red sauce and a lovely amount of cheese. I know I was hungry, but this was a true "finally, some good food" moment. Now I only got through half of the turkey, but that is only because I was already pretty full from the chicken. The sweet turkey which was liberally pilled up on this sub, contrasted with the smokey and rich gouda, and then blended together with the mild spice from the mustard. Same Italian bread, however the lack of heat meant this loaf retained more rigidness. And my choice of lettuce and onion made a refreshing bed at the bottom, keeping tabs on the meaty layer above.
It might have been a good thing I hadn't reviewed before as I do not believe the pasta dinner I had prior was nearly as good as these subs. A full hop skip and jump ahead of Subway or Jersey...
Read moreThis place claims to be authentic Italian, but it’s DEFINITELY not! They just buy some items that make them seem Italian. They don’t even know what sundried tomatoes are. I asked for balsamic glaze on chicken cutlet with mozzarella. I got balsamic vinegar on a sloppy expensive 6 inch. When I asked about why there was no balsamic glaze, they said what’s that? I know there are next to no options in the area, but I’d rather pass on this place. Gave them 2 starts because they have some Italian items/cold cuts but just not worth going.
Girl behind the counter has a funky attitude because I said, “you don’t know what sundried tomatoes are? I thought this was an Italian deli.” I didn’t say it with attitude, just said it with shock. Don’t claim to be something you’re not and lose the attitude. At least the gentleman behind the counter was nice and said he was Irish, so that’s why he didn’t know. I laughed, he smiled and I ordered something different. But his kindness just wasn’t enough to overcome the...
