I hate to post a negative review when we've been in the past and had a great experience. UNFORTUNATELY, this Sunday was nothing like our past experiences. We were there for a 6:30 dinner (which is much earlier than our normal). We waited and waited and waited and no host came to greet us. Many service people went by and did not acknowledge us, and two people were in line waiting to pay their bill after having eaten and they had been waiting 10 minutes! The guy said he was about to just leave his phone number and have them call him to pay his bill because he was so frustrated. We asked him if the restaurant was packed and that's why we were waiting in line behind another large group just to be seated and he said no they were like three tables. At this point we should have left.
Finally, a very harried male came and took care of people and finally showed us to a table. While we were waiting in the lobby, we noticed a very large fan going and learned soon enough why. There was no air conditioning in the entire restaurant filled with hot hibachi tables!! As soon as we sat down the sweat started pouring down everybody's faces. We started fanning ourselves with menus and putting hair up and everything to try and accommodate. And once again, we waited and waited and waited and waited for someone to at least bring us a drink menu and maybe some water. It took a half an hour! We finally got drink orders in and then that took 15 minutes to get just water! By then one of our guests was about to pass out from the heat (and this is not an exaggeration and she was not menopausal). We noticed another table fanning themselves as well and then another table came and lasted about a second and they got up and asked to leave. It was absolutely unbearable. Then what we thought could get no worse was the service. We didn't even see someone to take orders for 45 minutes! Once we finally placed our orders, they actually sat more people at our table so the whole process had to begin again waiting for them to get drinks and salad and soup. When the chef finally came out, we tried as hard as possible to lighten the mood but he didn't seem to have a lot of humor or enthusiasm like past chefs we have had at this place. (Even the kids commented about him not being as "fun" as the other chefs in the past ). This guy never gave us our shrimp appetizer either, portions were much smaller, some of the steak and shrimp from our meals were given the other customers that had not ordered either (and also to to the kids who didn't like steak or shrimp) but these were taken out of the portions that we paid for for our meals which was very strange. He also got the order wrong and had to go back to the kitchen to get the correct food, and we each got a quick squirt of water or sake. Last time we came, the kids were given lemonade and there were multiple sake rounds and it was much more amusing. Food was overcooked when asked for medium rare, other items were overcooked as well, and the show was nothing like we expected and we even let them know it was a special occasion. Never saw the special occasion sparklers and song and balloon headbands etc like last time. Very disappointing for someone who was looking to have a nice celebration that night. After 3 hours, we just asked for our check and wanted to get out of there. (In fact, two of our guests left early just to go outside to get air and stare at the dirty fish pond). Another thing to note Is that a gratuity is automatically added regardless of your group size. We noticed this last time as well with just four people. My understanding is that it's usually for groups of eight or more (maybe sometime six) but they have no problem tacking on 18% and then expecting more of course plus a tip for the chef. They've also started pushing labubus everywhere in cases with big price tags on them from the front to inside the eating area itself. It felt like they cared more about the stuffed trinkets than their guests. It looked and felt more like Chinese junk store atmosphere than...
Read moreWorse dining experience ever! Went there to eat with my family for Mother’s Day. We were seated with 2 more people mother and son( they are regulars, they knew all the staff name. They were getting extra attention then the other guests) . Anyway we order our drinks and foods. Server came back with my drink (pina colada) and it was nasty but I didn’t sent it back. The chef came and did only 1 trick, my kids weren’t even impressed. He was so confused about the orders and kept asking who order what. I ordered steak and shrimp and my husband ordered fillet mignon lobster and shrimp and 3 sides order of rice for the kids. The chef got the nerve to give us small portion of rice and a large portion of rice to the other guests. And he got the nerve to give me 3 pieces of shrimp and the rest to the other guests. I have to remind him that I ordered steak and shrimp. At this point I was ready to complain to the manager but my husband said no it’s not worse it. Ate our small portion food and ordered fried ice and tiramisu. Server came with just the fried ice. We asked for spoons and he said they ran out spoons so he gave us forks to eat our ice cream. The other guests ordered the same thing and guess what? He find them spoons to eat their ice cream. On the menu it said gratuity will be added to a party of 6, we were 5 and he added 20% tips on our bills. We left very unhappy and will never go there again. PS: the tables and the grill aren’t properly clean. The silverware were dirty. First and last time...
Read moreWe got there at 9, which is last call for hibachi. It was a last min birthday dinner. The hostess came off very aggressive asking us where the rest of our party was and if they knew what they wanted to order. She ended up sitting us down and i have never felt that unwelcome in a restaurant before. Everyone there kept looking over at us talking amongst themselves, we put the orders in first thing. Another young lady had her eye on us, left, then finally approached the table to ask us if we knew what we wanted to order. After we had already ordered. Her behavior was also more aggressive than the hostess. We had to ask for water. The cook did an amazing job, someone who has cooked for us before, made the experience pleasant and fun. Most importantly said happy birthday ! Once we received our check, for a table of four gratuity was already added ($60) and we weren’t even served well. Supposedly they just added that rule that gratuity goes on all tables ?! Terrible we left and not one person from the staff said anything, one person from our party said goodnight and someone replied. Never in my life will i be back to the once loved location in...
