The Nautilus and the New Rochelle Diner are both owned by the same owners. Nautilus has some items that new rochelle doesn't and their parking lot is easier to get a spot in even in busier hours. That said, Weekend breakfast the parklot fills like every other diner. But I often come here for breakfast, despite living around the corner from N.R.D. Giant menu typical of our famous Northeastern U.S. Diners. Flavors from various ethnicities. Breakfast has always been good. And I've enjoyed lunch and dinners. And the wifi works most of the time.
However, both here and in New Rochelle, I think the desserts are awful. Seriously, they look so good, but bleh. I took home a slice of Pumpkin Pie from New Rochelle, and threw it in the trash. Come on, Buy a can of Libbys and Pillsbury pie crust and the recipe would have tasted better. I know, I've eaten that many a holiday. I had a blueberry pie that was shiny blue glop with almost nothing that could be called blueberries.
I went there for dinner with relatives and had the most disappointing meal. My meal was great--the dessert was that awful pie. But the kids had the Kid's Turkey & stuffing platter with broccoli, mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy tasted of flour--clearly had not been cooked properly and the cook didn't bother to taste it at all. I hate turkey and it looked as dry as I expected it to be, but under a giant pile of turkey was yellow mush. I LOVE stuffing. This tasted awful and the texture was like baby food. Completely unappetizing. The professional chef at the table said it had too much rosemary in it. I didn't pickup on that, just the wet mushiness and not tasting like something I wanted in my mouth. Coconut cake was disappointing--yellow cake with the only taste of coconut was the coconut shavings. Pudding and ice cream were safe choices. It seems the bakery items are the disappointments. We had calamari with marinara which were excellent. Properly fried to be light and not greasy. I've had the thai sweet n spicy ones as well which are really good. The steak choice (don't recall which) lots of thin slices was nice and rare as asked for and was enjoyed.
Hopefully that was a one-off of bad items. I wasn't buying the meal, but i would have sent the gravy and the stuffing back. Nothing to be done about the stuffing probably, but maybe they have some not...
Read moreI Love the diner food and service is amazing! 4 stars,
While waiting to pay, phones are ringing and was ignoring the calls , when she finally decided pick up(one call) . My child and I are right in front her ready to pay (already 10 mins waiting), 5'2 (pink shirt) manager?? Someone was waiting to be seating as well had her back towards the lady, Doesn't acknowledge us or her at all, I said hi! She ignored us completely! She complaining over the phone that she's feels like she's working alone and someone who supposedly in the bathroom for 10 mins ! (Seriously) your complaining but yet providing horrible customer service, two wrongs don't make a right but seriously if you can't multitask just say that and be honest . But do not ignore my child with rude dry attitude, she didn't even say thank you or apologize for the wait. Sorry to say she ruining the restaurant image. She was loud and not discrete and was talking about a few people. This happen between (7:45pm-8:05pm) she had us...
Read moreBeen here before pre and post pandemic with my family. Went here yesterday as a party of 8. We met the rest of my family there as they already sat down. Server was slow on getting one more water for the table, and had to track him down for water. Overall tho, we all enjoyed our food. I ordered the full stack of chocolate chip pancakes, which was really good. only thing is that some people do prefer chocolate chips inside the pancake and only inside- although it does look good with the chips on top of them tho. My family ordered various food items, some ordered breakfast, and others ordered lunch. everything came out in a timely manner, and we all enjoyed the food. i tasted my dad's french fries and they were really delicous. Also our server offered the kid at our table ice cream, but didn't ask the rest of the table about any dessert or coffee or anything. know that sometimes people do say no, but it doesn't mean one doesn't offer it! hopefully will be...
