Dave's Diner — Restaurant in Town of Manlius

Great place. Very good food and prices are wonderful too. My kids want to go to this diner exclusively. I can’t get them to try any different place. I took one star off for cleanliness. The floors could be scrubbed a bit more and our bench was often oily from the previous (little?) customer. I also don’t like that it smells like chlorine while you’re eating. It’s hard for me to enjoy my food while smelling that. And lastly, they begin cleaning and putting chairs away way before the place actually closes (around 1:40). So you feel like in the wrong spot and the wrong place. Like they are trying to get rid of you as soon as possible. Plus all these banging in the background. So 4 stars are totally deserved. But could make it a 5 star place for sure (at least in my opinion) if a few things...

It is located on Seneca street in Manlius, NY. A stand-alone building in a strip mall. This is a great local hangout! Many regular customers. Wait staff are very friendly, greeting you as you enter. They also don't rush through your meal. There's a chalkboard with the daily specials. Breakfast is very popular here on the weekend. You may have to wait for an available table. Most customers will give up their table if they are done and just chatting. Very friendly atmosphere. The menu is American. Nothing too fancy but all very tasty and good portions. Oh, bottomless coffee. Lunch has a good assortment of sandwiches, salads, and some hot dishes. Not open for dinner. Enjoy the hometown feel of the diner....

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE! We thought we'd go out for breakfast since we are not from the area. My husband and I were met with attitude standing waiting to be seated. The waitress looked us up and down and said it was going to be awhile! It was a very uncomfortable greeting! Then she looked at my husband and asked what he had in his hand, it was an empty coffee flask. She said he could not bring that in! Then turned her BACK to us and WALKED AWAY......WOW. The customer behind us apologized and felt bad for how we were treated and followed us outside and said they were leaving as well. How uncomfortable is that. To be that petty and made us feel that uncomfortable, it had to be...
