So, we finally got a night off from the kiddos, thanks to our lifesaver of a babysitter, and decided to hit up Tulcingo. There I was, squeezed into my pregnancy jeans – not an easy feat, let me tell you – all for some delicious chicken and cheese!
First off, my husband had the classic margarita. I, of course, just watched with envy (can't indulge with the baby on board!). He seemed a bit underwhelmed by it. Note to self and others: maybe stick to a specific tequila choice.
The guacamole was pretty decent, though I craved a bit more pizzazz – maybe some extra spice to match my Cuban roots. If you're into a bit of a kick, definitely ask for it spicier.
Now, let’s talk entrees! I went for the Enchiladas Pollo, and oh boy, was it worth the jeans struggle. Easily one of the best I've had, and I don’t say that lightly. My husband had the Bistec Playero – a bit chewy but cooked well, and he seemed to enjoy the flavors.
Overall, it was a satisfying meal, perfect for fueling our post-dinner bargain hunting at Dollar Tree and Old Navy. Definitely a nice little escape for a preggo lady and her hubby.
I'm feeling generous with my stars here – it's a 5-star from me, with a tiny side note to maybe tweak a few things next time. But hey, when you're eating for two, any night out is a good...
Read moreI'll try to keep this brief. Went in here on a Friday night. No tables available. Sat at bar, ordered drinks. 5 minutes - table opens up (no drinks yet). Go over to table with our waitress as another waitress is sitting people at the table. Ask for open table by window.. got table in middle of room. Guacamole might as well be green tomato sauce, they throw so many tomatoes in there it's pitiful.. Bartender asks how we want our drinks.. "In a shot glass?" NO. Who drinks a mixed drink out of a shot glass? They bring drinks out in old-fashioned glasses, no ice, with about 2 ounces of liquid in them. Are they kidding? This is at least an 8 ounce glass, and its 3/4 empty. $9 for that drink -- better be Johnny Walker Blue. No steak in the steak quesadilla. No presentation on ANYTHING. Shrimp Burrito.. must have had 4 cocktail shrimp in the whole thing, DICED.
Getting annoyed just thinking about this place. It has been YEARS since I've walked out of a restaurant without leaving a tip.. but I had no choice here, the service was terrible and I left them nothing. Will not be going back.
There was another dish we ordered, don't remember what it was.. and I'm sure it was just as forgettable as this dining establishment. Oh, and they ain't reasonably priced either.. I wasted $50...
Read moreSome of the best tasting food I can get my hands on in the 845. Everything is always made fresh and no ingredient ever disappoints. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is fun and welcoming, and the restaurant is kept clean. One small thing that puts the biggest smile on my face is their french fries they serve on the sides of various meals. They are always cooked to perfection…crispy on the outside and warm and soft inside. They offer a wide variety of sauces to dip your food in, their green sauce is one of my favorites. The endless chips & salsa they offer you before you even order the main course is a huge bonus. Very few negatives if any at all being that there can be a bit of a wait during busier hours due to Tulcingo’s immense popularity, but nothing back breaking. A very rare occurrence is thr chips from the chips and salsa being slightly stale, but this has only happened twice out of uncountable visits, plus they’re free so nobody can complain. I’m eating at Tulcingo...
