Wayback Burgers — Restaurant in Town of Monroe

I see somebody gave this a one-star because they're required to wear a mask even though nobody else is all over the state. For that reason alone makes me want to go to this place even more. The fact that they are more serious about health risks and health concerns of their customers than the rest of the state is fantastic. I've got to eat there less than a dozen times over the past couple years. However if the owner is not there I don't order. I have an aversion medically to milk and dairy so when the second time I went in there till ever order I explained it to the owner and he allowed me to substitute one slice of bacon for four slices of cheese which was fantastic I didn't feel that I was being robbed for spending the same amount of money on the burger with no cheese that somebody else would get four slices of cheese with it for the same money.. However if he's not there the other employees tell me that he would never do such a thing and that is not allowed. I'm just tired of discussing it with them and explain to them so I just leave and hope that the next time I get the Urgent stop by that he happens to be there. Which he unfortunately hasn't been the last five times I did come in.. Which is probably why I haven't been to the place during pandemic. I wish I could just check out online if he's working cuz would make it easier for me to stop by. However before I had this medical condition place was fabulous and so was the food, and everybody else I know it was gone there loves it, including my niece who frequents it. I had read about Wayback months ago as a go to burger joint to try in the valley. Whenever we would go to Woodbury Commons we'd stop at shake shack. NEVER AGAIN. A quick ten minute drive from the Commons, you'll find Wayback. At first, we could smell the burgers as we turned the corner. There were several cars in the lot picking up Togo orders, and only a couple of people in the dining room. We ordered for dine in and took a seat around the back. After a few minutes the others in the dining room left. We could hear the "kids" working and goofing off. I guess they thought they were alone. Nothing bad, just having fun. I walked around to the front to see where the food was as it had been a while. The look on the young ladies face was priceless. It was obvious they did not know we were still there. Apparently, they had put our dine in order in a Togo bag, so they kind of forgot about us. Here's where the 5 stars come in. Rather than just handing us the bag that had been sitting there for 10+ minutes, they immediately re-cooked our meal to make sure that we had a fresh cooked meal. Not only that. They went out of their way to make us happy. The food was delicious, the service unexpectedly great, and they donate part of their proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club. Good food. Good...

Cruising down the freeway today I have cheeseburger on my mind for lunch and need something good. Different if possible…. A quick search brings up Wayback Burgers. I’m so there! Lots of cars in the lot, a good sign. Inside is an easy menu of just enough items for good variation. I ordered the Cheesey(double cheeseburger). Meat, cheese, meat, cheese on a grilled bread. Absolutely great!! The Cod sandwich next with pickles. You know how by the time they bread the fish and it’s on a roll it’s gooey or just too much bread taste. Not this one! It was awesome!! Really it could not have been better! The firey fries and onion rings were the perfect sides….. though my counter person(I think that’s the politically correct term) brought a side of their deep fried Mac and cheese over to try….. uh boy… this is going to be a problem!! They were SOOO good!! I left with a little leftover and again the awesome staff was there with a bag for my takeout before I could even ask! That said I don’t think I’ve been to a restaurant, even Morton’s Steakhouse lately, that the staff was so perceptive, helpful and genuinely NICE! Smiles everywhere. Staff, customers and me!
