So where do I start ... My aunt and I went to grab lunch and walked inside and waited a long while before anyone even greeted us. Several workers looked at us and didn't acknowledge us. The bartender also didn't greet us even though he was 10 feet awa and clearly saw us. FINALLY ... a server asked us if we had been helped and we said no. We asked if we could sit outside and were told probably even though all of the tables outside were empty. The server then went to ask the "hostess" if we could sit outside and this slightly hostile woman wearing a red t-shirt came out to see us. The "hostess" had a terrible attitude and didn't greet us or say "Hi ... How can I help you" ... She preceeded to rudely whip out a menu and practically throw it at us and said "THIS IS OUR MENU AND WE DON'T SELL SANDWICHES !!! ... LOOK IT OVER" insinuating that we weren't welcomed and that we couldn't afford their $25 salads. I have NEVER been asked to look at a menu while standing at the front door to see if there's anything on the menu that I liked. Super embarrasing as the other patrons clearly saw this. She rolled her eyes and just walked away leaving us there at the front door to look at the menu instead of seating us and allowing us to make up our mind if we wanted to eat there or not. My aunt and I instantly felt profiled and stereotyped. We felt embarrased and hurt. All in all I really don't think that POC are welcomed at this restaurant. I hate saying that but I honestly felt that that was the issue that the staff had (or maybe it was the t-shirt and jeans that I was weraing). Not seating us and leaving my elderly aunt and I standing at the door to look over a menu is classic racism that screams "YOU'RE NOT WELCOMED HERE". This place has great reviews and I'm sure the food is delicious but obviously it's not a welcoming place for POC. Anyways, I always wanted to eat here as I do alot of business in the area and was looking forward to having...
Read moreUpdate We’ve been coming here for a few years and unfortunately, I believe last night’s visit will be our last. The quality of the food is just so inconsistent from visit to visit. In the past it has varied from good to phenomenal, but unfortunately the past several visits have been really pretty disappointing. It seems that the quality of the ingredients has decreased significantly, but the price is always well over a hundred dollars for two people. Last night the shrimp and scallop pappardelle pasta, a go to dish for me here, felt like something I’d get at Olive Garden but with a Manhattan fine dining price tag. They were out of the fresh pappardelle they usually serve (not noted on the menu or told when ordered) and it was replaced with what appeared to be store bought fettuccine that was all stuck together and seemed to have been precooked. The shrimp was super over cooked and the scallops tasted like they had gone bad. I am so disappointed because I truly did love this place, but it just hasn’t held up in terms of quality. Way too expensive for what it has become.
Initial review
I really like Ward’s bridge in. I live really close and it is a good option for a treat yourself type dinner that has a decent balance of higher end dishes and also a great burger. Their whipped garlic butter that comes with the free bread at the start is reason in and of itself to make a trip here. They have great drinks and I love how they bring around a tray with all of the desserts on it at the end so you can see before you order. As for the main dishes- we’ve never had anything that wasn’t good, but have occasionally been a bit disappointed when ordering their dishes that aren’t the more standard offerings. Their pastas, salads, burgers, steak? Fantastic. I wouldn’t recommend their Asian fusion dishes. Ward’s is a great restaurant and I will absolutely be back. If you want to go on a weekend, be sure to make a reservation. They...
Read moreFinally we got a chance to eat here, and I won’t lie I didn’t realize this little jewel was here. In all fairness to Ward’s Bridge Inn, it’s located in an area that is populated by many food dispensary’s and businesses. But so is the nature of this crowded part of town (RT 17k & RT 211).
We went for an early dinner(5 pm) and we found the restaurant not empty, but food service had started and we were promptly greeted and shown to our table. We were provided with a small basket of bread and drinking water.
Our waitress for the night was Mercedes. She was very professional and greeted us with a smile. Making us aware of the specials, she took our drink orders and gave us some time to browse the small but interesting menu. Within minutes she returned with my Long Island Ice tea and my dates Pear Martini.
I ordered the Chicken Valdostana and my date the Chicken Milanese. The Long Island Ice Tea was made right, and it didn’t taste like random measurements of alcohol. The Pear Martini was fresh and well balanced, not like some other places that simply mix Pear perfume and rubbing alcohol.
But the star of the night was the Chicken Valdostana. This dish came with a side of creamy mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, green beans and small cubes of red bell peppers. I would have been happy with this alone, but the chicken was perfectly cooked, the creamy sauce was an absolute win with the melted Asiago cheese and the prosciutto added a wonderful saltiness that rounded it all together.
We finished it all off with a chocolate mousse, cannoli filling, on top of a moist chocolate cake from heaven desert. Mind is blown!!
I’m definitely going back; Osso Buco I got my...
