This is not a 4-star restaurant. Here comes an honest review. I came here with 3 other coworkers. Out of the 4 of us, only 3 people ordered food. 2 of the 3 orders were not correct. The flavors were much better than any of the other Chinese food restaurants but a far cry from 4 star quality. People need to stop celebrating mediocrity. I almost believe that some of those glowing reviews were family or friends. My order was what I wanted but not how I asked for it, so if you come here, forego any special orders. My other coworker’s meal wasn’t even what he asked for or paid for. He bought a more expensive dish. With 3 other men waiting he just took what they gave him. Although the food was better than the competitors, come on. This isn’t 4-stars worthy. 4 stars is for an excellent restaurant that just needs to work out some kinks. “Fresh food ingredients?” Nope. They might have resourced these from a vendor but the food wasn’t the first thing off the truck. You could tell the shrimp and vegetables were frozen. I understand that this part of the country doesn’t typically order spicy food, but they need to delete that red hot chilly next to a few of these dishes because even when asking for extra spicy, they don’t even put in the chilies or heat to make it spicy in the first place. 2 stars because this place beat out the more bland, undercooked and/or under seasoned...
Read moreMy new favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Other members of my family who love their lo mein. I have enjoyed a number of their dishes including shrimp with broccoli, Hunan style shrimp and other combination dinners with shrimp. When ordering online you have the option of upgrading to jumbo shrimp and even adding shrimp. I have not been disappointed yet. This week I plan to try their Singapore mei fun.UPDATE: The Singapore mei fun was great, as was expected.
The only problem I have with this place is that they started using Menufy's online ordering system. It sounds good to the restaurant because Menufy charges a $1.50 "convenience" charge to the customer instead of charging the restaurant a fee. I will never pay to use an online ordering system. I would rather call the restaurant. In this sense, Menufy is making it less convenient for the restaurant because they have to work to get the order over the phone and to take the payment from the customer. Further, the Menufy system lacks capabilities that the previous system had. For example, the previous system allowed you to upgrade you selection by offering a jumbo shrimp or extra shrimp options. Go back to the old system, Chinatown AA! I will give five starts...
Read moreI ordered a chicken and broccoli in light garlic sauce with white rice on the side when I was in town on a Friday noIt was "alright", it wasn't really that good. The chicken wasn't that firm, rather very soft and lacked flavor. The broccoli and garlic sauce was alright, with the garlic sauce being very thick and not exactly "light" as requested. It came with a very small rice. All in all, I'll stick to Green Garden off of N. Plank, which has the best Chinese in the area IMO. This was definitely a miss. I only finished it because I didn't want to...
