Pizza Heaven — Restaurant in Town of New Windsor

I came into this establishment today and experienced racism. I am a young Black woman and the staff here today were all Caucasian with the exception of one Hispanic. The pizza itself looks incredible , i was very excited to be there. I came in and walked straight to the counter , there were at least 5-7 employees, which is an understatement, working directly behind the counter. I stood and waited for 5-10 mins to be acknowledged and have my order taken. The staff intentionally ignored me, i was standing directly facing them ...opposite of the counter. I tried to be understanding to the fact that they might be busy and that they "possibly" did not notice me.. so I patiently waited some more.. and with a smile on my face. The employee whom I was standing in front of kept glancing at me and looking away quickly ...acting like he has was too busy to say anything.. keeping his head down...At two separate times , two different customers walked in after me ( both Caucasian people) and they did not stand directly behind counter... they stood off to the side because they weren't sure of who's next.. Nor did they say a word..The employee who was facing me on the other side of the counter , looked up instantly, stretched his head to look behind me, and he instantly acknowledged that customer and their order was taken. At that moment I knew exactly what was going on , there was no more denying it. Before I left I politely told a staff member what happened and how I felt. An apology was given automatically but honestly I felt he said it because he felt obligated... this person honestly didn't seem to care too much.. I went home feeling hungry and feeling mighty down. I was hungry just like everyone else in that restaurant and my money was just as good, I guess my skin wasn't... We can't change the world unless we...

I always ordered from pizza heaven and never had a problem, today 9/19/20 me and my daughter order from them and she order a Shrimp Parmesan Hero and when we got home it didn't look like a shrimp parmesan, it actually looked like a chicken parmesan so she called and let them know the young lady on the phone was very rude and not professional. I took the sandwich back and the young girl looked at it and said it was a shrimp parmesan hero after she took a knife and fork and dug all in it and expected me to take it back, I asked for another sandwich which I had to pay for it after I had already paid for the first one, she had the nerve to say we don't like people trying to get over on them which I don't understand What she meant about that, people like who because I was Afro American because I wasn't trying to get over on them because I order from them all the time and the older ladies are very polite, professional, and courtesy. They got over on me by making me pay for another sandwich, when I left out she tried to be sarcastic and if I was to do that I would be in the wrong. I will not be ordering from pizza heaven any more or my family and friends once I let them know the experience I encounter with the young lady that is old enough to be my granddaughter.

They have good pizza, especially if you like it well done. For that I gave them 2 stars. It's the service that cost them the other stars. I've been to this restaurant several times and I have seen the following happen or happen to me. Upon paying the bill usually one would hear a "thank you for your business" or just a plain "thank you" or maybe even just a "thanks". But here, you're almost as likely to hear an "you're welcome" instead. I've also experienced, while waiting in line to order, that they help people just entering the restaurant rather than those who are already waiting in line. Sometimes the new people will just shout out their order from the back and they are taken care of first! I believe they know these people. Possibly family or friends I would guess. Yet other times I've been in line and they just stop taking orders and do something else like fold boxes or arrange the food on the counter. I suggest only going here if you have a lot of patience and don't mind this type of service that may be occurring. Update: they have a new employee, maybe a manager type person who over charges. Also gives some people paper plates instead of...
